"I will miss Duke, the coaching staff and my teammates but it has always been goal of mine to play in the NBA."

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said the program is "100 percent behind" McRoberts' decision.

"Josh has been a terrific player for us for the past two years and he will be even better in the future as a professional. Based on our information, it is time for him to move on to the next level and we are ready to help him in any and every way during this process," Krzyzewski said. </div>

I think he had a good oppurtunity and he took it, i cant hate on him for going to the draft when his stock is high. I think this is going to be a good draft class, but arent they always? Good decision by McRoberts.

Why are you surprised? Josh McRoberts actually hurt his draft stock sticking around another season. He was slotted to be a Top 3 pick if he declared last year, now he's hanging around the middle of the draft. Depending on who comes out early, he could drop outside of the lottery.

I don't think he has an agent, so he'll probably go to Portsmouth or Chicago, get dominated, and come crawling back to Coach K with his tail between his legs.

If he does stay in the draft, though, how fair would it be to say that Duke's recent high-profile big men haven't really lived up to expectations? Shavlik Randolph was an amazing disappointment, Boateng has transferred, McRoberts hasn't materialized, and Luol Deng left after his freshman year. Sheldon Williams was a force, but he also wasn't a touted recruit. I guess the jury's still out on Zoubek and Lance Thomas, but every time I hear somebody talking about how awesome Duke will be with Singer and Co next year, I can't help but wonder if we're going to see a continued trend here.

im really not surprised, its just that, the way i see it, he still needs a lot of improvement. as big of a duke as i am, i still know how overrated he is. he can do a bit of everything, but the problem is that he doesnt do ENOUGH of those things. if he can develop into a bigtime scorer, or rebounder, or even shot-blocker (he really improved that last season), then okay, good for him for declaring and going pro. but i dont see that happening. im just mad becuase i dont see him doing well in the pros, yet. but if he can prove me wrong on that, then i'll be happy for him.

I heard he's already looking at agents, so throw that idea out the door. Portsmouth is for seniors and the draft camp is in Orlando. McRoberts could slip pretty far in this draft after how disappointing he was during the year. The fact that he's a big man that can't finish with both hands shows that he has many flaws and will end up falling a long way. I can see him falling all the way to the Rockets possibly if all the underclassmen enter that should.

Jay Bilas had a great quote on McRoberts. "He's a go-through guy, not a go-to guy."

McRoberts has been relegated to a solid role player instead of the original projections he'd be a franchise player in the NBA. I think a lot of us are disppointed with McRoberts, because we all had high expectations for him being a blue chip prospect out of high school.

McRoberts does have size and athleticism in his favor. He's also very good at passing the basketball, he'd be a commodity on a team like Miami, San Antonio, Cleveland, Lakers, (fits right in to not playing defense), because he can pass the ball out to people cutting in the post.
