<div class="quote_poster">Marbire Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> Wait, what? MJ can't do what Kobe has done? MJ is one of the now 4 players with 50+ pts in 3 consecutive games, and Kobe has now tied MJ with 4 60+ pt games in their careers.... or am I mistaken? An amazing performance, and Kobe is definitely the best player in the NBA at the moment. But pure physical basketball talent and skill does not guarantee you the title of greatest of all time. MJ was MUCH more than just raw skill. If Kobe manages to win a few more titles with this team, then maybe you have something. </div> I think you misunderstood, he says MJ is the greater player, kobe is not at MJ’s level yet, but there are things Kobe can do that MJ couldn’t … and im sure vice versa as well. I don’t see that as being so outrageous of a statement. At no point did Worthy said Kobe is the GOAT, so I don’t know where you’re drawing that from. IMO, Kobe on fire is better than MJ on fire in terms of pure offense. And yes Kobe and MJ have the same amount of 60 point games as you point out, since you want to bring that up. Now how much do you want to bet Kobe will hit 60 at least once more before his career is over. He only needs to do it once more to surpass him in that category.
Also keep in mind that MJ didn't win his first title until he was in his 30's. Kobe's only 28 with 3 championships
