If I was rich, I wouldnt give anything to charity, life is short, I'd rather enjoy myself with the money I have.

    Yep.

Call me selfish if you want, but I have enough problems of my own to worry about other people and their needs. If I work hard for my money, I should be able to enjoy it, not give it away.

How the hell do you have problems that grand that you wouldn't have enough to give back to your community? You sitting and posting this behind a computer is evident that you're doing well for yourself as is.

    Wow!

Look, when you're rich, I mean like super rich you have so much money that you wouldn't even know how to spend. You wouldn't be able to spend it on yourself because you would have everything already. You don't know how much money you'd have. Yes it is your money, but you should always donate no matter what. Rich people are so rich that they should donate no matter what. They have so much money and if they donate even a little of their money, it is big to poor people.

If you aren't a communist, then you really can't get all bent out of shape over how people spend their money.

Yes you can. When you see people spend their money on the stupidest and the most materialistic **** available it's just disheartening to see that they didn't think of maybe helping out somebody else with it first rather then getting every different color of a certain shirt or something along those lines. Your reasoning is stupid.

I'm just saying you can't expect all people to act moral, unselfish, or compassionate. Even when they should be. It's just naive to expect that.

Sure, but I figured a guy like NTC could understand the basic human principle of charity.

Yeah, but it feels bad to see people who are capable of donating a lot of money keep it for themselves which is selfish. People who have the money should donate to the ones who don't.

I don't disagree with that. Of course people should.

I dont believe in giving to charity.

I work hard for my money, I have my own needs to look out for, without worrying about paying for some one elses way aswell. If I ever get to the point in life, where I've accumulated millions of dollars, it will be because of working hard for it. Life is short, you never know what will happen next, if I ever accumulate such wealth, I want to enjoy it, even if that means buying 50 cars i'll never drive, not just give it away for nothing.

I never really understood that phrase. Life isn't short. It's long enough for most us to waste our time doing nothing productive at all.

Why can't people buy material things and help someone at the same time? Take Marbury for example. He does a lot for the community and wears an expensive chain/jewelry.

So, you're greedy, materialistic, and in full control of the hot air balloon that is your ego then?

Your own needs? What are your needs that even with millions of dollars you couldn't accommodate them. I hate selfishness, I hate the betrayal of unity. It's what we are put on this earth to do, unite and understand and evolve. With your reasoning we are doing the exact opposite. You keep feeding yourself to yourself and one day you'll implode and wonder where it all went, then you'll truly say "Life is short."

I agree with Sasha, that's a really selfish thing to do. Sure you worked hard for your money but there are some people out there who aren't capable of working and making tons of money. Take a disabled person for instance. If they are struggling finiancially because they can't get hired for a big time job, wouldn't you help them out? If you had millions of dollars and 50 cars you didn't drive, why not give some of that money or some of those cars to a poor person? Honestly, I will feel better making 100 poor people financially stable and happy with their lives rather than having 50 cars that collect dust in your mansion's garage.

Also, if life is so short, why are you wasting time posting on a forum rather than skydiving or something like that. [IMG]

That's cool and all, but the government gives huge tax benefits by scraping whatever you donate to charity off the tax books (not sure if there's a limit.) Congress could pass out million dollar checks left and right to charity, but with all the tax benefits given to those who donate, they don't need to - and don't period.

So you can either donate your money to those you think deserve it most, or just give it back to government. You decide. [IMG]

I pay enough in taxes as it is for people such as those who are disabled and recieve a government disability pension, why should I be forced into giving more?

<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">If you had millions of dollars and 50 cars you didn't drive, why not give some of that money or some of those cars to a poor person?</div>

Why should I? What have these people done for me? Why should I give away my hard earned money, that I've gone out and worked for, to people, who in most cases, made poor decisions in their lives and ended up in those situations because of their own stupidity? (i.e abusing drugs, alcohol, getting pregnant at an early age etc.)

Sasha, you dont know me, you dont know the kind of person I am, I am far from what you described above. I enjoy helping people out, infact thats one of the main reasons why I am planning to become a Police Officer, to help people out, I just dont believe in giving somthing away for nothing, especially somthing I put in hardwork, get underpaid and cheated out of (oh right, the taxes, the finger thing means the taxes [/Simpsons Quote]) to earn.
