Yeah, thats the way I would be. Be rich, enjoy life .. live luxurious but also give at the same time. I wasn't serious about the "i'd go for something twice as bigger as lil Jon though [IMG]." Charity is an important part of Islam... btw.

That's some spacious reasoning, man. I think there's a certain amount of compassion that you should show for others who are struggling. I mean, say you see a woman being raped in an alley. By your reasoning, there's no reason to do anything to help her out. She probably made the "stupid" mistake of going into a dark alley by herself. Your taxes pay for the police that should be saving her and will search for the criminal afterwards. If you help her out, she probably won't reward you in any material way and you're giving your help away for nothing. So, is there any reason to help her out in this situation or do you keep walking and forget about the whole situation? Because, you know, life is short...

Sasha, you dont know me, you dont know the kind of person I am, I am far from what you described above. I enjoy helping people out, infact thats one of the main reasons why I am planning to become a Police Officer, to help people out, I just dont believe in giving somthing away for nothing, especially somthing I put in hardwork, get underpaid and cheated out of (oh right, the taxes, the finger thing means the taxes [/Simpsons Quote]) to earn.

I'm sorry, but did you just respond with a Simpson's quote and expect me to take you seriously? If you can't bring your points forth validly, stop hiding behind humor.

I think Chutney outlined it perfectly.

I dont believe in giving money to charity, I dont not believe in helping people out, how hard is this to comprehend? There is a big difference between giving away hard earned money for nothing, and helping out a woman who is being raped or assaulted.

You guys can try and twist this as much as you like, you're making yourself look like fools at the end of the day, because I'm not a selfish person at all.

You're the spitting image of it. Now, granted I don't know much about you, or really anything at all but what you've presented thus far fits perfectly with the above explanation. Don't take this as an attack, because it isn't, I'd just like to know why you don't like helping people out. So, please stop sidestepping everything and answer me that if you could.

I'm not calling you selfish so much as I'm trying to understand your reasoning. You don't believe in charity, but you do believe in helping people out. Dude, those two things go hand in hand. The only difference between giving your "hard earned money" to charity for nothing and helping out a distressed women for nothing, is that one involves money.

Is it simply that you don't like giving money away? Because, if that's the case you need to realize that everything in society revolves around money. Saving a woman from getting raped always makes a difference, but not as much as donating money that can provide therapy and councilling for 10 women who've been raped. It's one thing to not have enough money to spare for charity, but I don't understand how you could have so much extra money (hypothetically), not donate any to charity, and still not consider yourself selfish.

Why? Because I dont give money to charity? [IMG] There is more to being selfish than just not giving money away to charity.

I've already given you enough reasons as to why I dont give to charity, if you feel as though giving away your hard earned money to other people for nothing makes you a better person, then good for you, I dont, deal with it.

If some one needs to borrow some money, I'll lend it to them, if some one is being picked on by some one else, I'll stand up for them, if some one is being attacked, I'll help fend the attacker off, I wont give away money, that I work hard for, away for nothing.

Chutney, yeah you're right, everything in society revolves around money, and I have enough bills, debts and responsibilites of my own to worry about and cater for, without having to pay for other peoples mishaps too.

If I did have so much money I didnt know what to do with it, I would give back to the community, but it would be after my own personal needs have first been met, and it would be a project I would put together and finance, like building a Hospital, School etc.

Dude, that's a lot different than what you originally said (would rather spend the money on cars that you wouldn't drive, etc.) and way easier to respect. You wouldn't be the only person to distrust charitable organizations. But spending money like that is essentially the same thing.

If there are 50 cars that I want, then I'll buy them first.

One thing I've learnt growing up is you need to always put yourself first, there are too many unappreciative people out there, or people who will stab you in the back at any given chance.

I don't know what I find more disgusting. The fact that someone would spend half a million dollars on a piece of jewlery...or that people here are actually supporting that descision.

How can anyone seriously support "wasting" money? You'd have to be completely out of touch with the kind of problems there are in the world to support that. Sure he has the RIGHT to do that...but does that make it ok? Why not spend half a million dollars and save some family's in Africa? How about giving to your community, and building a big state of the art rec. center or a facility that will give jobs, and take kids off the street, and help the local economy? He makes me sick...and so do you people who are so easily influenced by pop culture and a retarded trend.
