We?re a few weeks away before the Playoffs starts and looking at the standings, it?s clear that we will face either Phoenix or San Antonio. As a Lakers fan who would you rather see us match up against ? Personally I really don?t know who I want. Phoenix is a very good team, we matched up well against them last year. We did beat San Antonio twice this season but this is a team who has won the chip before.
I would rather them playing the Suns, but the way they are going, i think we will play the Spurs, we are 2 games ahed of the Nuggets. Kobe's on fire i don't know if we will lose that 6th spot. But who knows.
it's pretty much a toss-up. Defensively, we can keep up with the spurs better because the suns offense is to quick for us. Then again, the spurs are a completely different team in the playoffs, so its a tossup...It doesnt matter though. we can compete with everyone if we're healthy and kobe will work more of his magic in the playoffs
IDK who I'd rather face. Suns are younger but most of their energy is depleted from the regular season and use a short rotation, the Spurs are older but they have the exp. So, idk...
I always prefer the Suns. They're good, fast, and extremely fast, but in the playoff the game slows down. I think we have a better chance at upsetting the Suns than the Spurs.
The Lakers are capable of beating either team in a 7 game series. The regular season doesn't really factor in to playoff success, but the Lakers have had success against both teams this year. Both teams are going to be tough to beat, especially with the homecourt advantage being in their favor. Earlier in the year I thought the Lakers would matchup better against the Spurs, because the Lakers were trying to score from the inside-out, and playing tough defensively. However, these past few games, the Lakers have abandoned their defense and are just trying to outscore their opponents with Kobe leading the attack. If the Lakers plan to attack teams offensively, then the Suns are the better matchup for us because Phoenix isn't a strong defensive team. The Lakers could afford to go small if Kwame or Bynum aren't contributing and have success. The opposite is true if the Lakers face San Antonio in Round 1. The Lakers cannot afford Kwame and Bynum to struggle in the series because the Spurs rely heavily on Duncan in the post season, and their defense can make stops when needed. The Lakers still have a month to continue getting healthy and improve on areas of their defense. The way the Lakers are currently playing, I'd prefer Phoenix in Round 1. It would also be great to see the Lakers get revenge from last year against them.
