Shaq: 12th all time leading scorer

    MIAMI, March 26 (AP) -- Shaquille O'Neal passed Reggie Miller for 12th place on the NBA's career scoring list Monday night, getting his 25,280th point.

    O'Neal entered the night 10 points behind Miller, and got his 11th point on a free throw with 5:43 left in the first half against the Atlanta Hawks.

    Miller scored 25,279 points in 18 seasons with the Indiana Pacers, and retired after the 2004-05 campaign with a career average of 18.2 points.

    O'Neal, in his 15th NBA season, entered Monday averaging 26.0 points.

    Good job big guy. He will prolly past a few more depending on how many years hes gonna play. I'm going to say its will be prolly be within the next 2 years.

    For a player who calls himself the Most Dominant Ever, you'd think he'd be ranked higher than that by now.

    Well he would but considered hes never played a full season due to injurys...

    Hey I love points and all but these all-time records that are volume-based don't mean as much as career averages. Even then, a career average can be misleading.

    When I mentioned career average, I was referring to other things. Of course 26 is good.

    26.00 pts, 11.6 boards, 2.8 assists, 2.4 blocks, .580 %. i'd still say those numbers are pretty damn impressive.

    The Field Goal Percentage is misleading for example. Aside from that, those are impressive stats and I'm always taking Shaq over Wilt in those Best Center of all time debates.

    Career averages are really messed for other players though, which is what I was really trying to hint at.
