<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> That Dirk Nowitzki fell one point shy of a nice milestone Wednesday night was no big deal.

After a few tense moments, neither was his latest ankle injury.

Nowitzki sat out virtually all of the second half against Milwaukee after tweaking his left ankle late in the first half. Nowitzki, who came into the evening needing 18 points to reach 15,000 for his career, scored 13 in the first eight minutes, but had only 17 when he left for the evening.

He departed with 3:42 left in the second quarter when he stepped on a Milwaukee player's foot. Nowitzki played the first few possessions of the third quarter, but could not move well enough to continue and left for the locker room.

"Basically, the bone spurs jammed together," Nowitzki said. "I tried to walk it off, but it wouldn't loosen up.

"There's really no need to push it right now. I should be playing on Friday. It's going to be sore, but I've done it before."

Nowitzki has had ankle sprains on numerous occasions, and the Mavs have only three games in the next eight days.

With his next point, Nowitzki will become the 105th player in league history to reach 15,000.

This season, Nowitzki passed Mark Aguirre for second on the Mavericks' all-time scoring list. He trails Rolando Blackman, who scored 16,643 points in his Mavericks career. </div>

If I were Dirk I would take it as smooth as possible. No way can the Mavs suffer losing him for a few games in the playoffs, even with their great depth.

This is not toward dirk. But its funny how the media blows up every thing said. We know that Dirk is a little banged up. By this point of the year everyone is Sore. They are on a champoinship run and the only thing that will stop dirk from playing is a broken bone. Think of all of the times bird was banged up but won chips anyway. Dirk will be okay.
