I actually think this was a good move. I'm not a big Turley fan, but Willie Roaf's age and last years injury concerns with him make a veteran backup very palatible (even a head-case). I also expect Turley to beat out all of our wannabes at RT for the opener anyway. It will be nice though, if Willie goes down, to have a veteran to slide over to Trent Green's blind side.

I did read that Will Svitek fared really well in NFLE this year. Maybe he can be ready to man a position in a year or two.

From What I hear he's playing Tight End, he's only at about 265 lbs right now at least thats the last I heard, so he'll be a blocking tight end, however he did play Wideout in High School so he must have some form of catching abillity.

Oh no they wouldn't be replacing Tony G, just as a back up and situational Tight End, but looks like I was wrong, they expect him to comepete for the starting Right Tackle Spot, mustv'e put some weight back since he tried out with the Dolphins and Bengals.

If Turley can regain his old form, I think this is a good move for the Chiefs. Actually, I really like Kyle Turley and his attitude. I always felt that having an injection of nasty on the O-line is a plus.

Good for Turley. When he tried out w/ Miami, he weighed 260 which is light for a OT.

Isn't the plan for KT to be used as a reserve blocking TE?

The cheifs apparently want him to compete for the starting right tackle job, which is odd because he was 260 not too long ago, Thats what it states on NFL.com at least.

A couple of Triple Whoppers with Cheese from BK and a few dozen Blizzards from Dairy Queen would fix the 260 thing pretty quick... [IMG]

He must've gained the weight back. I did read that he was about 265 but that was hard to believe at the time. Perhaps he gained weight and is up to around 290 or so.

He's hoping to play between 285-295. He took off the weight due to chronic back problems. He says he is slowly adding the right kind of weight back, by working ab muscles and lower back muscles to provide support for his shortcomings. He said he could not afford to add the weight back in pizzas.

Denver did pretty well with an athletic, undersized line. And Turley has been around the block and claims he will rely on his knowledge of leverage and his football instincts. I guess time will tell.

Herm Edwards' statement was that in this league, when you have a chance to grab a good offensive tackle...you take it!
