It's funny how all the experts were saying this would be the game that Kobe doesn't score 50 because Houston is a "slow it down" team. Did they forget that Kobe scored 53 on us in a game earlier in the year?
The game was good, Mamba was Mamba, and although the outcome wasn't what I would have liked, Kobe proved again he is the best. Odom going 1 of 2 when we could have gone up by 5 instead of by 4, then Kwame being fouled and missing both FT's were the reason we lost in OT. Look at the boxscore and see how many points we missed from the charity stripe. The Rockets hit all there fouls and that was the REAL DIFFERENCE.
<div class="quote_poster">Mamba Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Smush is an idiot, he waits forever to foul. He did walk, wow...very tick tack violation to call, I hate when refs take the game away from the players and don't let them decide the outcome.</div> how else do u want it to be? if it's a violation then it has to be called. not skipping all these calls just to let the game be more exciting. if that's the case, then the refs will be 'making' the outcome of games even more than they r in cleveland. refs r there to judge; someitmes they make mistakes because they r humans. but that was indeed travel by kobe and was a right call.
<div class="quote_poster">Mamba Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Ugh, I am being serious. How often will you see that call made with the time winding down? I'd venture to say about 98% of the time, that call isn't made. Go back and watch the Warriors/Suns game from the other night and count all of the uncalled traveling violations. It's just a joke, I think in the winding seconds of a game refs should let players decide the outcome, not themselves. I'd say this for any player, any team...not just Kobe and the Lakers.</div> Did Kobe not travel? Thanks. But man, the ball is like Kobe's friend. It goes in for him, it comes to him of a missed free-throw... I mean out of 10 guys, the best one gets it. Amazing player.
Like I said, go back and watch the GSW/PHX game and see how many no travel calls there were. In the final seconds of a game, you don't take the game out of the players hands...it's ridiculous.
Kobe did travel and that is one of the difference between Kobe and Jordan, refs won?t blow the whistle if it was MJ.

The Rockets made a good team defensive play, sending a trap at midcourt with Yao. That forced Kobe to pick up his dribble and greatly increased the chances of him traveling. If it was something totally unforced, I can sort of understand the argument not to "take the game out of the players hands." That wasn't the case here.

Nope. I'm saying let the players decide the game in the final seconds. Ask people, a lot of people agree. Calling a ticky tack travel in the final seconds of a game is lame. I would be saying the same thing if it was Tmac in Kobe's position.
its all good, I think the Rockets got bailed out on both LA games.. thats just me as my point of view as a rockets fan, I dont think they should have called that small travel, BUT i think they called it because Howard traveled earlier so they probably had to call it, nonetheless a good game and gl the rest of the season to the lakers, Kobe Bryant is still the best player in the NBA despite losing this game for the Lakers.. Man PHX is losing alot lately, if the spurs get the two seed, and if the lakers can hold on to the sixth seed, I'd love to see Kobe against Raja Bell btw ->> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6n6POS9AIM - The only thing that I can say is that Kobe is the best player in the NBA, too bad he doesnt have the team..

But on a side note Kobe <font face=""Arial Black""><font size=""4"">IS</font></font> the MVP bar none!!!!!
I dunno, I've never been a fan of the refs not letting the players decide the outcome. I think that refs should let players play more physical (to an extent) down the stretch and little violations such as this...so far from the basket and not too evident, should be ignored. Hell of a game by Yao.

The ref might swallow his whitstle if a player is trying to get a bail out call, but that travel was forced and calling it is simply rewarding good defense. Also, I watched that PHX/GSW game, could you name an exact instance where you saw a no call because I don't remember seeing any, Anyways another great game give the Lakers 10 more wins and Kobe would be the MVP.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">That's game, the referee made a good call on the travel, but in a situation like that I think he should of let it go.</div> I watched the replay he took like 6 steps, lol...it was the right call... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm saying let the players decide the game in the final seconds. What a heartbreaker last night! Everyone at the bar was screaming and chanting MVP, after Kobe sent the game into OT. Then everyone became outraged on the [bill walton] WORST CALL IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA[/bill walton] when Kobe was whistled for bumping into McGrady. Did the referee not see the illegal screen set by Yao Ming, which Kobe into TMac? And then the salt in the wound, Kobe gets whacked in the jaw by TMac's elbow. This killed all the Lakers momentum and Kobe took two stupid shots out of frustration to end the game. I think the three games in this matchup have been the best three games of the year. I would love to see the Rockets and Lakers face off in the playoffs in Round 2 or WCF.
