<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Paul Pierce has had a rough season with the Celtics and shared his feelings about his recognition, his future and what Boston will do this summer. "It's definitely another year gone by for me," Pierce told the Boston Herald in an interview published Friday. "It's another year we don't get into the postseason. It's another year I don't get recognized for the things I do. I'm the classic case of a great player on a bad team, and it stinks." Pierce, a five-time All-Star, has suffered through injuries and an 18-game losing streak by Boston this season. Despite those difficulties, Pierce has managed to average 25 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.</div> Source I have wanted us to get Pierce for awhile because he is a phenomenal player who can score from anywhere on the court. The way he took over the game against us the other night just furthered my respect for this guy. I'm convinced he's one of the best scorers in the league and he is extremely underrated. These comments are pretty negative and this offseason will definitely be interesting. Many players have expressed their frustration (Jermaine O'Neal, Pau Gasol, and now Paul Pierce). It seems as if Iverson caused a chain reaction of superstar players on bad teams to speak up and do something. With that said, we have cap room this summer and while we've all been sifting through the free agent class and seeing whose available, a trade is another possibility. If either Pierce or Jermaine want out of Boston or Indiana, we could get together a pretty nice package including some of our young players and we could also absorb some of the superstar's salary since we're under the cap. A Pierce-Dwight combo would definitely turn us into contenders. I would love to get Paul Pierce and crazier things have happened. I'm covering the Raptors-Magic game this Wednesday and I'm going to ask Otis about this to see what he says. What do you guys think of this?
I like Pierce and all, but I think he'd require to much of Orlando's cap space. Besides, I was never a fan of players running to the media and voicing their displeasures of the team. You do that behind closed doors. Since the most of the Magic buzz has been around Carter and perhaps now Pierce, I'd say that Pierce is an investment I'd like moreso than Carter.
Pierce is one of the most underrated players in this league. He should be up their on the same level as Lebron, Wade, Kobe, Mcgrady, etc. However, the team he plays on prevents that. He is speaking nothing but the truth in this article. However, he kind of comes off like an *** doing it.
I don't blame Pierce for his comments. He's been in Boston for his entire career and this has been the worst season he has had to experience since entering the league. I'm sure he's been extremely frustrated during this rebuilding mode and while many Celtics fans are looking forward to drafting Oden or Durant, you can understand Pierce wanting to win now. He is getting older and like this has been another wasted year and he only has so many more seasons in his prime.
