reading all these articles about KG, JO and pierce wanting out makes me wonder, will lakers make a push for one of these guys? i dont think we could get kg without ridding ourselves of bynum, and seeing how mitch is in love with the kid i cant see a way KG could be a laker, i beleive that we could somehow get JO if he does infact sit down with donnie walsh and ask to be traded, this may or may not involve giving up bynum, who knows? pierce, i beleive, would be an upgrade over odom, he isnt inconsistent like odom and could put up some great numbers for us. he would also help kobe with the scoring load, which is a big factor in the way we lose some of our games. either way any one of these players would be a great help offensively AND defensively, so what do you guys think about it all?
You can also add Pau Gasol to the list of disgruntled superstars. As for us landing another superstar? Highly unlikely. We were close this trade deadline with Jason Kidd, and sadly, I think this will be the closest we'll ever get in a while. I just don't see what we have on this roster that will make teams pounce on a trade. Besides Bynum, we don't really have any youngsters that teams will show any interest in. Jim Buss has already said that Bynum is untradable, so unless he changes his mind, don't expect any big changes. It's sad that we're just wasting away Kobes prime
we pretty much have no shot at him, but man, if we could somehow acquire chauncy...we'd be really good. i don't understand why bynum is untradeable. his size isn't as much of a positive in today's fastpaced game, which rewards athleticism, something bynum lacks. he's also slow and has a questionable work ethic. i think the lakers are being irrational.
In the beginning of the season, I didn't want us to trade away Bynum either, but the more I think of it, the more I want him gone (traded for an All-Star). I feel like Bynum has tons of potential, and I think he will become a great player one day, but that day is still years away. He's simply just too young and too raw. So what do we do? Do wait for Bynum to develop? Even though I feel Bynum will become a great player one day, it's not guarenteed. What if we wait all this time for nothing? While wasting arguable the best talent since Jordan in Kobe Bryant? I want us to win now, and if it means no more Bynum, than that's something that must get done. Unfortuanately, it looks like it probably won't happen, and besides a few draft picks, we'll come into next season with basically the same roster as we currently have. Of course we'll get better when all the injured players return, but I still wouldn't consider us championship contenders. What I want is a championship, not being close to a championship
I just want to get a PG that provides consistantley and puts up around 15 ppg and like 7 assists per game. A player that makes everyone better, much like Jason Kidd or Steve Nash, but not at thier superstar level. With a solid PG, this team has enough talent to be in the top 5 by next year. As for wasting Kobe's prime, he is only 28, he has much time before his prime is over. But, i really want see something happen this offseason. Watching this team lose for stupid reasons is sickening.
I'd love to try and acquire Jermaine O'neal, if he's that disgruntled in Indiana, his value won't be that high because teams know that the Pacers won't get a hell of a deal for him. Lamar, Cookie and a pick or two should get it done.
if we have any cap space, i would think that any free agent would love to play with kobe, it's a shoe in for the playoffs and if the free agent was a reaslly good player like billups or someone like that we would have a good shot at a ring. so maybe we need to look to the free agent market? can anyone make a list of the up-coming free agents, or post a link to something that has it.
The only way we're going to land a big name free agent is via a sign and trade. We simply don't have the cap space to sign a big name guy. However, despite this, I still wouldn't rule out the possibility of landing someone.
