After reading some of the comments on the Return of Vinny, I wondered who was left in free agency and I did some "research" on who's left. Maybe your teams might be looking at these guys too around training camp or when the cuts begin. Here are some notable free agents: Quarterback Kerry Collins Tommy Maddox Jay Fiedler Vinny Testaverde Running Back Jonathan Wells Lamar Gordon Stephen Davis Wide Reciever Kevin Johnson Az-Zahir Hakim Dez White Rick Proehl Tight End Lamont Hall Chad Cleeland Chad Lewis Offensive Linemen Orlando Brown (Tackle) Ethan Brooks (Tackle) Ron Stone (Guard) Jeff Mitchell (Center) Defensive Tackle Grady Jackson Dan Wilkenson Brenston Buckner Defensive End Duane Clemens Gary Walker Linebacker Earl Holmes (Middle Linebacker) Rocky Calmus (Middle Linebacker) Orlando Ruff (Middle Linebacker) Chris Clairborne (Middle Linebacker/Weakside Linebacker) Nate Wayne (Weakside Linebacker) Jamie Sharper (Outside Linebacker) Chad Brown (Outside Linebacker) Peter Boulware (Outside Linebacker) Junior Seau (Outside Linebacker) Defensive Back Ty Law (Cornerback) Ahmed Plummer (Cornerback) Will Peterson (Cornerback) Dexter McCleon (Cornerback) Dale Carter (Cornerback) Lance Schulters (Safety) Antuan Edwards (Safety) Keion Carpenter (Safety) Ronnie Heard (Safety) Earl Little (Safety) Special Teams Todd Peterson (Kicker) Paul Edinger (Kicker) Jose Cortez (Kicker) Kyle Richardson (Punter) Tom Tupa (Punter) Sean Landeta (Punter)
There are some pretty good names in that list. A lot of older players, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of those names come off the board to get a good veteran presence on a team.
I'm surprised that Sharper and Boulware are still available - both those guys can play, and both would be decent additions to most teams.
Yeah, I was surprised at the fact that Sharper and Boulware was still in there. I know Peter Boulware was considering retirement and is only going to possibly play for one season while Jamie Sharper might be someone who is possibly asking too much like Ty Law.
