The guy signed a 10-day contract with the Clippers and has been playing terrifically. My question is, we obviously need help at the point guard position, so why the hell didn't we give him a look
Asleep at the switch Mitch sure does. Jason Hart is a solid player, but it's hard to transition players into the Triangle offense this late in the season. He wouldn't get the same opportunities with the Lakers he's received with the Clippers. The Clippers have lost both starting PGs, so they're forced to play Hart heavy minutes. Eventually teams are going to adjust to Hart, and the law of averages will catch up with him. I don't think it's a secret the Lakers will look to upgrade at PG in the offseason. Smush Parker is playing himself out of the NBA with his attitude and lackluster season.
Hart is an even worse defender than Smush …He’s steady with the ball, but that’s about it. If the Lakers want a cheap big guard who can defend, Fred House is a guy I always thought would fit the triangle well.

<div class="quote_poster">Bobcats Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Who's Fred House?</div> He's a 6'4''ish journeyman guard who i believe at the moment is playing in Europe. He was NBDL ROY in its 2nd year and he was featured a lot on that show "Life in the D-league'' ... I know he played for the Blazers summerleague last summer and seems to pop in and out of team camps every year but never seems to latch on for whatever reason, probably because he's a combo guard who has an erratic shot... but him being in a team camp every summer suggest to me he hasn't given up on trying to make the L ... I use to watch a lot of D-league games and his intensity on defense has always left an impression on me, even after all these years. I think the PG position in the Triangle is really a combo guard position, and House is a combo guard who defends out of his mind .. ie the anti-smush. EDIT: i just typed his name in youtube and good ole dependable youtube came up with this video of him in europe. .. the clips dont really show his defensive prowess though outside of a couple of his steals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KVrrYMukZc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5MpHo6sL8M
NMG, I know the Lakers signed Jackie Manuel to their DLeague team. He was a tenacious defender at UNC, and has the long wingspan PJax likes from his PGs. Have you seen him play this season, what's the breakdown on him if you have?

I did see him at UNC and I remember him being more of a hustle guy than anything. I dont remember him being very skillful however. The guy on the Dfenders that I'm really interested in seeing is Andre PAtterson. Coming out of HS, he had considerable hype until his academic problems took over and the whole transfer thing slowed his development IMO, but he's got a strong body and could be that athletic wing player we need for a cheap price. He'll hit the boards and play defense On the topic of Dleague scrubs, call me crazy for even suggesting this, but former Bruin Cedric Bozeman seems like a guy who could be a good fit for the Lakers at PG. Now before you think i'm out of my mind, think about this ... He's a long tall 6'7'' natural PG who played out of position his senior year at UCLA to accomodate Jordan Farmar. He's got quick hands, great court vision, which was displayed when he led the Pac-10 in assist his jr year and was averaging 10+ assist per game in the D-league, and he while he lacks athleticism, is a very smart player. I see a lot of over the hill Ron Harper in him.
It seems like you are very knowlegeble with the NBDL. Can you tell me what you think about Will Conroy? I think he's signed to the D-Fenders. I remember we invited him to the Summer Leagues a couple of seasons ago. Do you think he can make any impact for us?
