Barnes will not be resigned..... resigning of morons has to stop.... of course he had his signature soft foul and one.... and his patented spin move that is so predictable the sun came up.... and dont forget his 3 point launches.... and with all that he makes brilliant turnovers.... and hes such an astute player...the court vision is unmatched. In fact sign him to a multi year max c ontract and be done with it..... Putting Barnes in the game is like shooting yourself in the foot.... and at this point in the season it might as well be the head. AZ where are you? we need you now.... hell bring back roberson .... he can contribute more than the whirling divirsh that isnt barnes
Anybody know if these guys are worth taking next season for cheapy swingmen to replace Pietrus? Qyntel Woods (uhhh should we keep him away from Sjax? If T-mac was only 1/4 as good as he is right now, I think Woods would be it. Has potential, but maybe he's just a team distraction) Julius Hodge (wasn't this guy shot earlier? all-around guy. skinny. Nelly might like him as Sjax's backup.) Ryan Bowen (tweener forward, defensive player, rebounds) Luckily, college I think has a few small forwards to offer that are pretty well rounded. Maybe we can take a second rounder on one of them if we still have one.

Nellie seems to like him a lot and who else will want him? He really only fits on a running team. I'd rather use the MLE to sign Nocioni who is a rich man's Barnes but thats probably not very likely. For all of his shortcomings Barnes is a guy who actually plays solid defense on mid-size PFs and rebounds pretty well, he can handle and shoot. Of course I'd rather he not shoot so much or try to create on his own but he does give us some help in areas where we need it. Right now hes one of our only "PFs" and hes probably the best at defense/rebounding at that position. I think we re-sign one of Barnes or Pietrus, whoever is cheaper, and I assume that Pietrus will command a decent sized contract from some team who wants a SG who can play both sides of the ball. I'd like to get another legit PF to replace him but our options are limited. Even if we draft a PF he probably won't be ready to play big minutes for most of the season. Pietrus is probably gone so if Barnes walks too then all we have is Harrington and I suppose Jackson or Richardson at PF.
Run Bjm - Just curious who commands the bigger salary between MP and BArnes - Across the board their numbers are nearly the same. So at this point a team would be paying for upside? comparing them - 3 point shooting is a dead lock both streaky.. MP maybe slighly more consistent Ball handling - both are horrible, but barnes actually can use his left hand a little shooting - both are easily scouted and predictable .... MP has big athleticsm giving him the edge defense - both play undersized at times and MP clearly has better foot speed.... edge MP Hoop smarts - they are both morons, they both panic in the clutch, barnes repeated soft foul and one...pisses me off enough to give MP the edge....imagine that MP smarter than anyone on the court without the ball - they both stand around a lot but i think barnes gets it ..so edge barnes over all skills .... this is upside here....so edge MP on court demeaner - a huge edge to MP..... i watche barnes when he makes errors and he has the Dunleavy disease of blaming others.... complaining non stop.... his demeanor and lack of intelligence makes me say dont resign him for anything above what he is currently making...barnes is a dime a dozen MP gets the edge for upside alone.... but can we still call it upside at this point I think we should let both walk. Keep Az...... I am all for Nocioni..... he is bigger .... hard nosed and tough.... something wel need..... can hit the three and board..... and plays smart..... big hustle.... I would take nocioni over barnes and MP together in a heart beat
I agree with Boogie, that we should keep Az over either Barnes and MP. I'm not sure why he's not getting playing time. Maybe lack of trust? or poor D? The problem with having Barnes on the court right now is that he has a broken finger or something, and that's screwing up his shoot. I cringe every time he shoots now. Before I didn't mind much because I think he's pretty good from three, and that his hot start shooting the three was not a fluke. I'm wondering if he ever shoots any mid-range jumpers though.
Pretty much agree with all of that, I think Pietrus will get more money because of upside like you said but also hes a legit SG/SF while Barnes is a PF in a SF's body. Theres more demand for athletic swingmen who can defend and produce on offense than for a combo forward like Barnes who is nothing special as an SF but as a PF can shoot well while not being too bad defensively on PFs. Like I said, I'd love to get Nocioni, who is basically a rich man's Barnes and can play PF like Barnes does but thats not likely and we need someone to play PF other than Harrington (who isn't even as good of a rebounder/defender at PF as Barnes is).

Even though he didn't shoot well against the Spurs he didn't play that bad. He took some open shots for the most part and grabbed some good boards and made some hustle plays. Barnes is definitley inconsistent scoring the ball. Depending on him to be the offense from the bench may not work all the time, i.e. this game vs. the Spurs. Though he has had some great scoring nights off the bench as well. I guess it's his somewhat lack of skills or execution in other parts of his game which will make him look very bad on some cold shooting nights. I won't dispute whether the team will resign him or not, I think it has to do with the contracts that are offered and on the table. I think a small longer term deal or bigger short-term deal for one year maybe two may work out. It's gonna be up to Nelson and Mullin on what to do there. I do agree with you on Azubuike though. Where is he?
Barnes and Pietrus are incredibly alike in that they both have occaisional flashes of productivity amidst their general inconsistencies. Barnes will have an MVP-like defensive night (think of him at the top of the zone against Utah that first time), running all over the place, hassling ball handlers and creating turnovers for fast breaks. It makes me thing "damn!" this guy is one of the best defenders around. But then he'll have the next 2 games with a bunch of brain farts and missed assignments and "double-pump" jumpshots that barely catch backboard. Same with Pietrus. He will be a ghost -- a no-show -- one night, and the next he'll hit 4 threes while shutting down a guy like Josh Smith, and rebounding 6 or 7 to boot. Both are terribly inconsistent. Honestly, though, Barnes has been a bit more steady than Pietrus, but both are too hard to rely on. Az? Well, he's looked great in limited minutes as a guy that no team even includes in their scouting report. How will he pan out, though, if given minutes like Pietrus/Barnes? Remember, Barnes looked like 6th man of the year his first 10 games, then teams caught on, started taking away that spin move, and suddenly he was an offensive foul waiting to happen. Can Az sustain his production if teams plan for him off the bench? IMO, it won't hurt to try! He can shoot, has hops, is strong, and heck -- we've already seen what Biarntrus will do for us (yes I'm coining that term). Plus, Az will come relatively cheaper. Signing Pietrus for anything more than 3 mils/year seems foolish at this point. Same for Barnes. But I'm REALLY interested to see what we can do in the draft this year.
