<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas freshman Kevin Durant will enter the 2007 NBA draft and is pursuing hiring an agent, Texas announced on Tuesday afternoon. "I enjoyed my year here at Texas," Durant said in a prepared statement. "All the fans and everyone here at Texas made me feel right at home, considering I was so far away from home. I will always be a Longhorn and never forget what the people at Texas have done for me." A news conference has been scheduled for 5 p.m. ET in Austin, Texas. Durant plans on finishing the spring semester rather than withdrawing from the university, ESPN.com's Andy Katz reports. Durant and his family did not talk to reporters after the team banquet Monday night in Austin. But Barnes said he expected Durant would make an announcement soon. "I think he'll make a quick decision," Barnes said, noting that Durant's family would remain in town with him for another day or so. "Now it's a matter of [Durant and his family] deciding and putting it together."</div> Link Well, there it is. Thoughts and reactions?
I'll stick by my opinion and say he should stay for another year. So yeah I'm suprised, I'm not saying he wont be good.
Something in my mind is telling me that either Durant or Oden will stay for another year...I wonder what will go down with Oden now.
He should have stayed and developed a bit more, put on some muscle, and try to win that NCAA Championship. I think of Durant as a Kevin Garnett/Chris Bosh type player.

Durant is an excellent 3 point shooter, something which KG and Bosh are not. Kevin Durant can also play the SF position, something which KG and Bosh cannot do. I bet Durant could even play PG if was given a shot, once again something which Bosh and KG cannot do. See what vast differences between this? Not a very good comparison. Durant is going to be more like a Nowitzki type player.
I don't think you can well compare Durant to very many pro players, if any. His shooting range is truly rare for someone his size, and while he's got post-up ability, that part of his game will take some time to develop in the NBA - remember, he routinely was defended by guys who were about 6'7", 225 in college. He's going to see opponents' best defenders every night, and teams are going to beat up on him to see how he reacts. He's like Nowitski in the sense that he can't be covered by another big; he's too athletic and has too many perimeter skills. I don't know who to compare him to, but we should see him play in the league before we start the rash of comparisons to former greats.
All I am saying is he could of made a better comparison than Bosh/KG who are really nothing like Durant.

Also i remember during his MVP season that he was lined up as a point guard for a few times in some games, and brought the ball up to court.

And as GarnettKG21 mentioned, KG even played some time at PG. He is probally one of the most versatile players to play the game, so I dont know where you're pulling this rubbish that he cant do this and that.
"He should have stayed and developed a bit more, put on some muscle, and try to win that NCAA Championship." He would never give up a chance of goin to the NBA, besides i doubt if texas lost this year they would win next year, even if Durant would have stayed.

Durant is a much better rebounder then Dirk is. And Durant isn't the greatest defensive player, just like a Bosh or McGrady. I could see some Dirk in him, but not as much as KG, Bosh, or T-Mac. <div class="quote_poster">NewYorkBalla33 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">He would never give up a chance of going to the NBA, besides i doubt if texas lost this year they would win next year, even if Durant would have stayed.</div> It would have gaven him a chance to develop his defensive game and build some more muscle so he could become a better post player and rebounder.
Durant should have stayed in school, to develop more muscle on his frame, but why would he? If I were in Durant's position, hell I'd go. Coming off one of the best freshman season, of all time, his stock won't be any higher. He's going to sign his multi-million guaranteed contract and be set for life, for playing basketball. Sounds like a plan to me.

He seemed to be the best player by quite some margin every single night that he played. He's not really gonna develop much better in college, because he dominated every single night. You get better playing against people around your level, there just isn't enough college players that are on Durant's level. I think he made the right decision, unless he was having a lot of fun in college and wanted to stay.
