<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Steve Francis and the Knicks were upset after Tuesday's blowout loss to the Bulls, saying Chicago tried to embarrass them by jacking up late threes and attempting an alley-oop to Tyrus Thomas when the final score was 98-69.
"I know when someone's trying to run up the score on you," Francis said. "I won't let a team do that to our younger players. This organization, we have respect for the Bulls, but when incidents like this happen, I don't think it's appropriate." Had the Bulls scored 100 points, fans would have received a free Big Mac. Jerome James and Tyrus Thomas almost got into it in the hallway after the game, while Nate Robinson and Francis had to be restrained from going after Thomas by coach Isiah Thomas following the game. </div>

So apparently a fight almost broke through because Knick players were pissed the opposing team was trying to run up the score. The Bulls were trying to get 100 points for the fans to get free Big Macs.

Note to Knicks: If you don't want "the score run up" don't get blown out.

4 of our starters - or a combined 60 points and 23 rebounds - are injured. Most nights teams lose by large margins when 4 of their 5 best players are sidelined with injuries.

Anyway, I don't know what happened since I stopped watching the game from 2 minutes into the 4th quarter, but I wouldn't be surprised if Tyrus Thomas provoked some type of conflict like he did with Rip Hamilton a few games ago. That's not calling the Knicks blameless either.

I also wondered why Gordon was out there for so long when the game was decided midway into the third quarter. But it doesn't matter since teams can do what they want. No use of complaining - just play ball.

What did Thomas do to Hamilton? I thought that was just Rip acting stupid.

I am not looking for an excuse as to why you got blown out. Fact is you got blown out. No use complaining. What did Tyrus do to Rip? Rip started the whole thing by throwing an elbow.

I just said in my post "No use of complaining - just play ball". I'm just trying to stress the fact it's not really their fault they got blown out is all.

Didn't see the elbow from Rip, but I only saw the play once. I've seen Tyrus Thomas get into the face of opponents and such so it wouldn't be surprising if he possibly started something with Jerome, who has a happy-go-lucky nature.

Point is, we don't know how the fight started.

ESPN showed the replay of Rip elbowing Tyrus, then stalking him around the court talking to him. The Hawks where missing their top three scorers, and beat the Celtics. Missing talented players is no reason to lose by 30 points. Of course the Bulls are better than the Celtics, but the Knicks still should of put up a fight. It was over before it even started.

Are you really trying to compare the Celtics to the Bulls?

That night, the Celtics were playing without Pierce, Szczerbiak, and Jefferson, so they too were playing without their top 3 scorers. The game was pretty evenly matched.

Let me try to explain this to you:

    Stephon Marbury: 16.4 PPG
    Jamal Crawford: 17.9 PPG
    Quentin Richardson: 13.0 PPG
    David Lee: 10.7 PPG
    Renaldo Balkman: 5.0 PPG

    Total: 63 PPG

That's 63 missing points the Knicks have to replicate on a nightly basis. That's about 65% of their total scoring missing. Now add to the fact this is the second of a back to back after playing a hard-fought game against Detroit. Now finally factor in Chicago played EVERYONE on their active list.

    Is a blowout understandable?

Throwing in Renaldo Balkman and his five points a game kind of looks like your trying to pad the stats a little to make it look better, but point already taken. However, you still have Eddy Curry, Steve Francis (who has performed well lately), Nate Robinson, etc. No excuse to get blown out by 30 points ( a lose is understandable but not in the way it took place). Also I am not comparing the Bulls to the Celtics like I said in my previous post "of course the bulls are a lot better than the Celtics" the situation however was somewhat parallel considering how many players the Hawks were missing. Heck can anyone even name their starting lineup? All teams go through injuries the Rockets were without Yao/Mcgrady for a while yet they were not blown out by 30 points. You cannot blame a lose like this on injuries alone.

So let me guess this straight. What you are saying here is that all these players are guarnteed to combine for 63 points.

Just because they average a certain amount of points, does not mean they will score 16.4 points every single game. Your excuse is so stupid. Marbury could of had an off night, and only scored 2 points. You just dont know. So stop bringing this excuse into the argument.

All you do is come up with excuses for your players and team. Knicks are a bunch of sore losers in my opinion. They do this all the time, its pathetic of them. They are disgrace to the great city of New York.

Firstly, Eddy Curry only played 21 minutes, most of his minutes coming in the first half and Francis hasn’t played well at all lately. In fact, the last game where he scored over 10 points was about a month ago on March 16th. Nate Robinson scored 24 points and the Knicks still got blown out, which should tell you a lot about how offensively lacking the Knicks were. The Knicks were missing two-thirds of their total scoring. It’s not fair to expect rookies/sophomores and other role players (Rose, Jeffries, James) to pick up the scoring slack from guys like Marbury or Crawford. Let me also add to the fact that the Bulls – who are on pace to win 50 games – were more or less completely healthy. I think a loss of this magnitude is expected playing a healthy Bulls team.

The situation between the Celtics and the Hawks is completely incomparable to the Knicks. Both teams were missing three of their top scorers and 4-5 bench players out. Both teams were evenly matched—that’s a fallacious argument.

Tracy McGrady has played about 70 games this season. Most of the games that McGrady missed were when Yao Ming was healthy. When both of them were gone for (like last year) they only won 34 games and were blown out sometimes too.

<div class="quote_poster">Basketballer05 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">So let me guess this straight. What you are saying here is that all these players are guarnteed to combine for 63 points.</div>
I never said they were guaranteed to score 63 points, so stop putting words in my mouth. Honestly, if you can’t see how an average of 60 missing points isn’t a major disadvantage for a team, than you’re being unreasonable.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Just because they average a certain amount of points, does not mean they will score 16.4 points every single game. Yes, I expect Marbury to score 16.4 points every game. [IMG]

How is my excuse stupid? Four of the Knicks top five scorers were missing and they combine for two-thirds of the Knicks usual point production. Marbury isn’t the only one missing, so I don’t see the relevance of you bringing him up. Even if Marbury scored 2 points, there’s still Crawford, Richardson, and Lee who could have combined for 50.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">All you do is come up with excuses for your players and team. Knicks are a bunch of sore losers in my opinion. They do this all the time, its pathetic of them. They are disgrace to the great city of New York.</div>
You seem like a young fan. If you haven’t noticed, when a team is missing multiple major contributors, and they are playing a good team which is completely healthy, they tend to struggle.

If you can’t understand that, then you’re simply being unreasonable.

You said something similar to this in the Bulls forum: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Its not just Francis who has done stuff like this before. Nearly each individual player on the team this season has done something similar to this. Even the coach Isiah has, which just makes me even more ashamed of the Knicks.</div>
Please tell me each individual—not just a few, <u>all.</u>

Reading this **** makes me pissed I'm sorry. Francis, WHO CARES? You seriously need to stop crying and just play basketball. I think NBA Games should be played at full speed for 48 minutes. If your getting trashed out of your misery, do something about it. Your sorry asses aren't going to the playoffs so you don't have to worry about getting injured. When I play with my friends at the park its constant trash talk and going our hardest the whole time why can't NBA players do that and stop whining and play like they got a set. For your information most of us fans could care less about how bad you guys suck as long as we get our Big Mac. And to the person who made that comment about Rip. Thomas was asking Hamilton to fight yeah Rip was being stupid but it wasn't all his fault.

Okay we were playing our rooks. The lineup was

    Duhon
    Thabo
    Kriyhapa (spelling)
    Thomas
    Allen

That team couldnt run up the score against the mcdonalds higschool allstar team</div>

Next time we will leave Wallace, Gordon, Hinrich, and Deng in and give you guys a reason to whine. Thats how I feel about it. Then we couldve won by 45.

The Knicks has been trying so hard to blame someone the entire season. Just look at the mirror and you'll find your answer. The team that New York has right now is an embarrassment to the Knicks tradition and the people of New York.

    Definitely agreed.

Why are the Knicks crying about getting blownout? If you don't want "the score run up" don't get blown out!

I have seen many Rockets games where if Rockets score 100 points, fans get a free Big Mac. I think that Bulls were trying to do the same thing. It was like about 1 minute left when they were jacking up threes or something I believe. Why would they take shots to run up the score in a minute? How many points would they get? 6? I really believe they were trying to get a basket to get their fans a Big Mac.

Word. Considering how big the lead was for the Bulls, I doubt the fans in the arena got excited at all. They were probably dying of boredom. The Bulls going for the Big-Macs at least gave the fans something to cheer about...

This was Francis' opinion, not the whole Knicks team.
