I was thinking... What if the Lakers still make the playoffs but drop all the way to the 8th spot? IMO it would be better for them to face Dallas rather than phoenix due to the type of games they play.

Yes Dallas is the best team but their type of play 'can' (not will) be broken down if kobe and the lakers show up to play. Unlike if we play phoenix and Kobe and the team have GOOD GAMES but we still lose because phx scores TOO MUCH pts for us to handle on one of our best days.

Its like if we have a 10% chance (or maybe Less) of knocking out PHX in the playoffs [IMG] [IMG] , then we would have around a 13% chance of knocking out Dallas due to their type of games [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Therefore i'd rather face Dallas

    Thoughts?

Yeah, meeting Dallas could be good. Then we would really be the underdogs (well, we would be against the Suns and the Spurs too), and Dallas would be in a situation when they must win. Dallas folded in the finals last year, so perhaps they are not too good at handling pressure. My hopes of the Lakers making it out of the first round are not big, but hey, if we are going out in the first round, we might as well do it against the best team in the league.

I would much rather play Dallas or Phoenix rather than San Antonio. Would we be better off with Dallas? I have no idea. But I don't expect us to win either series

There is something about the Spurs though... Even though they are a great team with a lot of playoff experience, I think the Lakers could at least win a couple of games against them.

i want to see a rematch of last year, we might still have a chance. We will probably get Kwame and Radman back. Also, i want to see Warriors-Dallas. An upset.[IMG]

How on earth does playing Dallas instead of Phoenix be better for the Lakers? at least playing the Suns, the Lakers can bound It inside but with Dallas you won't be able to have much success. Their frontcourt is very good. There are holes in the Suns interior defensively.

Dallas would likely sweep the Lakers, they would do better Vs the Suns. Not that It matters the Lakers will be lucky to win more than 1 game whoever they face.

If that was true how on earth would they of got to the finals in the first place? Dallas have been on a mission all season long. I highly doubt they make the same mistakes as they did last year. They are a more experienced group than they were a year ago.

I know the Lakers are struggling, but Dallas has a history of losing to the Lakers at Staples Center. There's some type of mental block when the team comes to LA, or maybe to many distractions outside of the gym.

The only rational reason I would want to face Dallas in Round 1, is the health of Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard. Both of them are beat up heading into the post season, and Dirk has a habit of twisting his ankle in the playoffs.

I know that Shape, but the playoffs are different...for both teams. When did Dallas last face L.A. in the playoffs? IIRC, it was back in the Finley/Nash days. So Laker's success has been in the regular season. The Warriors have also been beating up on the Mavs, yet who likes their chances against Dallas?

The playoffs are different, but these two teams generally bring their 'A' games when they meet up.

I don't think Dallas would be a better matchup than Phoenix, but I was just pointing out two reasons you could argue for it. Both are pretty weak, which further proves Dallas is a team the Lakers should avoid in a 1st round matchup.

From what I can see right now, the top 3 teams in the West have the ability to "turn on the switch" when they want. The ability to elevate their game to another level, seperates them from the other teams out West.

We might not even make the playoff here. I really do wish the Lakers don't make the playoff and letting the Lakers' front office know Kobe needs help and the fans are pissed.

How about we've got a better shot in the lottery than against any of these teams? That's the most believable thing.

I retract all my statements. We could meet the Grizzlies in the first round and still lose.

Haha, could lose? The way we've played against them this year, I wouldn't put it beyond this team to be swept.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen...
