<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Now it gets expensive. The Charlotte Bobcats did a great job the past three years of collecting parts. They got Emeka Okafor in the rookie draft, Gerald Wallace in the expansion draft and found Matt Carroll in the NBA Development League. Those three started most of this season on the least-expensive roster in the NBA (approximately $41 million payroll). This team was on the fringes of the playoff race, and the players believe they'd be in the postseason with a luckier season injury-wise. Now management starts paying to retain talent. Okafor, Wallace and Carroll all could be eligible for lucrative new contracts this summer, and they would hit the market as very attractive talents. Part-owner Michael Jordan, who oversees basketball decisions, says retaining all three is a priority.</div> Source: Charlotte Observer
I'm confident all three of these guys will re-sign. Man, to this day, I still can't believe Sacramento let Wallace go.

Assuming Charlotte signs back their core players, I see no reason why they should make a strong post season run in the coming years.

Bobcats shouldn't make a mistake of signing him for more than what he's worth - 5 years/40 mill sounds about right.

He helps the team in more ways than just one. He is probably the second most key guy for them other than Okafor. He can play 3 positions on the court, he plays defense, he can score if need be, and the thing is that he is still young and getting better day after day. It would be a bad mistake by the Bobcats to let him go.

Gerald atleast deserves Josh Howard money(9-10 mil a year). I'd go so far as to say we don't need to sign VC or Rashard Lewis just because of how much he developed this year. His jumper is reliable now and ranges out to the 3 point line and he's only going to miss around 10 games which has been his biggest problem. He's not a superstar but if he can keep improving he'll be close In the past 2 weeks he's gone for 30/11 leading us to wins over the Wizards and Heat (twice each). You'd have to actually watch a Bobcats game to understand Gerald Wallace's importance to this team. Hell, we win 2 games in a row and then he doesn't play tonight and we lose by 19

He's averaging 18 PPG, 7 RPG, 2 SPG, and 1 BPG. Last year he averaged over 2 BPG and 2 SPG. He's very versatile and is able to defend point guards, shooting guards or small forwards. Also, he isn't even 25 yet, so he hasn't reached his full potential. He's a very efficient scorer and has developed a good enough jumpshot so teams can't just focus on his driving ability anymore. By next season, I say he will be better than Shawn Marion if he stays healthy. Hell, I think he's been better than Marion this year.
