<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It appears as if Cavaliers coach Mike Brown has a short leash on forward Donyell Marshall. Unless he comes in and makes an immediate impact on the game, he'll soon find himself back on the bench. And with the playoffs less than two weeks away, Brown might shorten his rotation even more, which might further erode Marshall's dwindling minutes. Marshall was brought on board for his 3-point shooting, rebounding and his unique ability to spread the floor. That has not been enough to earn him many minutes in Brown's rotation in the last two weeks. "I don't want to survive on just spreading the floor and driving and kicking it out for 3s," Brown said. "That's what he does for us. He has the ability to stretch the defense. He's a stretch 'big.' We have to get it done in other areas, too." That other area is defense, which is where Brown feels Marshall has been lacking. With age creeping up on Marshall, he's not the defensive player he once was. Also, his rebounding has dipped from 6.1 per game last season - which led all NBA reserves - to 3.9 this year. When Marshall is draining 3-pointers, Brown can sometimes overlook some lapses on the defensive end. But that hasn't been the case as of late. Marshall has made just one of his last 10 3-point shots. The 33-year-old forward, who has two years remaining on his contract after this season, played just six minutes against Detroit on Sunday. When he was in the game, the Pistons immediately posted him up with 6-foot-11 Rasheed Wallace, which led to an early exit.</div> Source: NEWSHERALD
Donyell Marshall needs to drop at least 25lbs of weight and get in better condition. He's really let himself go the last few seasons and is looking more and more like Tractor Traylor.
