I'm tempted to actively root against the Lakers at this point.

They played a good game tonight, but let's face it, they're not going anywhere in the playoffs if they do indeed qualify. Why not actively root for them to lose their next two games in order to secure a lottery pick in the most stacked draft class in at least the last 10 years? Not only will a higher draft pick serve as better trade bait, it would also motivate the team to finally make some changes to a roster desperate for them.

So yeah. Bring on the offseason.

I agree, they should just go for the lottery, there is no point in going to the playoffs when you have a crappy team such as this.

I've given up. I haven't watched a game in over 8 games. We're absolutely pathetic. I've got more important things to do than waste my damn time on this terrible team.

    I'll be following MLB.

It really is heart wrenching watching this team out there. Kobe's tank is on E, it's evident by his game against Phx.

Fair enough, but I think it's precisely BECAUSE I'm a diehard that I want them to lose the next two games, as in the long run, losing these next two would benefit us more.

Yeah to hell w/ the rest of this NBA season. I really don't care who wins the finals at this point. As for me, I'll be watching the NHL playoffs.

i think we are all in doubt about this team. how can you be a fan of the team when you cant stand any of the players (excluding kobe and maybe walton and turiaf)? this is the problem i face on a day to day basis, this season my love for the lakers franchise has grown alot due to our production early in the season and ofcourse kobe's performances. but all that build hasnt led to much, infact it has led to many unhappy and depressed laker fans around the world.

we can say that the offseason will bring somone to solve our problems, but are problems lie in two main players in our starting line up and our perimeter defense. until smush and odom are no longer on this laker roster(and we find ourselves players in return that can produce better numbers and much better defense) i dont see anything positive in our future.

we have been promised a future star in bynum, who still hasnt shown the consistency and strength to become anything more than a back up center. there is our future right there, we havent any other young players who have any potential, although farmar has shown he can be a servicable point gaurd.

so to conclude my point, our rebuilding stage that began when shaq was traded, has failed in my books. kobe still gives us hope, but without any back up. if we are to get anywhere near the championship we need to make huge HUGE changes, but i dont see that happening.

I wouldn't mind not missing the playoffs at this point. I didn't even watch the Suns game last night because like Mamba said, I had better things to do. When I checked the score, I was more or less surprised they didn't get blown out. But yes, that Clippers game was the last straw for me. I honestly don't care what happens between now and the offseason. I just want the offseason to start now

Missing the playoffs and being in the lottery would give you a pick about2 or 3 spots higher, as your chances of moving up significantly at this point is low. You may as well get more playoffs experience and end the season on a more positive note.

Getting sweeped in four games isn't ending the season on a positive note. If we're going to get sweeped, we might as well save the embarrasment and miss the playoffs altogether

Its not over yet.. you guys are givig up too easily. I agree, we need to make a major change in the offsean, but it does not mean we are done for the season. Through the games I have watched, the only reason we are losing them is beacause we are not hitting shots at the crucial point. But this team has shone bright spots. As the game againt phonix, we did not blown out because we controlled the tempo and played good defence (at some crcial points). What it comes down to is they only have Kobe to hit at crucial times, which he cannot do all the time. As for the loss to Phonix, I blame Kobe.

Look at all the fair weather Lakers fans in this thread. [IMG]

I bet the same fans were "die hard Lakers fans" in the days of Kobe and Shaq.

I hope the Lakers are as weak minded as some of you.

For the fans that said its too early to give up, I applaud and respect you. When you have a player like Kobe on your team, anything is possible in the playoffs. Look at MJ and his teams. The Lakers are just as talented as the Bulls dynasty team overall. Kobe is nearly as dominant as MJ and Odom can be as good as an all around player as Pippen was. Kwame/Bynum have much greater potential than old I forget the White Aussie's name at center, etc.

I hope the Lakers tank as some of you hope so the Warriors wont have to worry about a tie breaker.

    Go Warriors!

watch some Laker games and see how half-assed they play, why waste time watching a team that has little will to win.

First of all, the difference is likely to be higher than 2 or three spots, as the crappy Eastern conference teams would have lower picks if the Lakers miss the playoffs. Second, the difference in 3 picks in this draft is the difference between a player like Mike Conley Jr. and Thaddeus/Nick Young.

you guys don't get it. Phil Jackson is positioning his team to face Dallas after all they can't keep up with the Suns.

It's not about being a fairweather fan. It's about being rational and rooting for the outcome that's in the best interest of the team in the long run. That outcome is clearly missing the playoffs this year and positioning ourselves for more severe changes in the offseason. There's scant reason to wish for a likely sweep in the playoffs.
