<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It remains to be seen if the Pacers and star center Jermaine O'Neal -- whose longstanding agreement with management calls for a sitdown summit at season's end -- will agree that it's time for both sides to move in separate directions should Indy miss the playoffs for the first time since 1997. (Or even if the Pacers sneak into the eighth spot.)

But at least one O'Neal teammate believes that the four-time All-Star hopes to end up in Los Angeles next season alongside Kobe Bryant, his fellow preps-to-pros groundbreaker from the draft class of 1996. O'Neal and Bryant are said to be still fairly close after coming into the league together.

I hope J.O. gets out of Indy so he can have real chance to compete for a title...that would be a good move for both J.O. and the Lakers...

Oh let them start! This is actually move I can envision. Jermaine was almost a Laker, but Shaq refused to play in Indy.

He can opt-out in the off-season.

Personally, I don't care too much for him. He's a below average passer with a history of missing far too many games. He also won't be cheap.

    ^Defense bro, defense. He's a 20 and 12 player, I'd take him.

Yeah, but he is a much better player than anyone else we have in our frontcourt. If the Lakers can convince him to come to LA, we'll have a much better team. The way I see it, the problem will be money.

If he'll come FA, I'll take him in a heartbeat. He'll help the frontcourt so much.

Jermaine O'Neal would be great for us. He'll give us the low post presence we desperately need. Imagine a defensive frontcourt of J. O'neal and K. Brown. That's virtually immovable (assuming we don't trade Kwame). But I am a little worried about injuries. Neither have shown they have the ability to stay relatively healthy for most of the season, but it's definetly a risk we must take

Aren't JO and Kwame good friends too? I heard that they work out with each other in the summer, or something.

I think they would make a great combo because he's not a baby like Shaq and would be fine with it being kobe's team. Kobe in turn would reward him with plenty of feeds in the post. Luke would find him too.... Lakers should sacrifice just about anyone to get him, yes including Lamar......

We'd obviously have to give up Lamar to make the contracts work. I've always been supportive of Lamar, but enough is enough. The guy isn't a second option and we'll never win with a Kobe/Odom duo. The experiment is dead. It is over. It's time to move on

What's the status on Odom's contract? Does it have to be renewed after this season or does he have more years left? If we could get O'Neal without sacrificing Odom it would be great.
