Raptors lose game 1, but no worries, feel out game, get the jitters out of the way, we're back to playing Raptors ball, so we should come out strong in game 2.
Sam Mitchell lost the Raptors the game. Why da **** would u keep Joey Graham in when he's been turning over the ball, making fouls on jump shooters, playing bad defense. WTF is he thinking?
Next game I'll take a little more Calderon, a lot less Graham, and a few more minutes for Mopete. TJ Ford has got to realize that when he makes his shot the primary option no one is going to move without the ball. Sure his scoring numbers look great but he killed the ball movement in the half court set. He may just be getting over playoff jitters so let's see how he does next game. We may have lost this one but the 4th quarter was encouraging at least. Oh, and Steve Javie sucks!
After watching this game, I think Bosh is gonna have difficult time scoring in this series. Collins always does a good job on bosh, Mikki Moore's got a quickness and even Booooone did a decent job on bosh. I gotta give credits to Lawrence Frank for guarding Bosh. I saw nobody buyin into CB4's shot fake in this game. Everyone stayed on the ground and guarded well. This could have worked cuz Bosh wasn't makin any shot but it worked in game 1. I hope Bosh makes some shots in game2.

Later in the game, I saw Martin wearin red shirt instead of white one..lol Kudos for martin makin IMPACT even on the bench
Raptors need some of their secondary players to step up. Im calling out Bargnani, Graham, MO Pete (in limited minutes). People have already talked about Graham but for me Bargnani was a big dissapointment he had several defensive lapses, gave up position on the low block, turned it over and seems generally uninterested in getting rebounds/winning the game. I know its a difficult task especially for a rookie to get back into a groove after missing 14 games. But if the Raptors want to advance past the 1st round he needs to step up and contribute IMO.
vince isnt gonna play like that all series so watch out, but i expect us to come out more ready next game.
Ford and Calderon were trying so hard to get us back into this game but no one except Bosh and Parker really stepped up. At times our shot selection was horrible and we couldn't find the basket. With the amount of defensive stops we had, we could have got an easy lead if we executed fluently on offense. Graham however, had a terrible game. He was fumbling passes, creating unforced turnovers, and was careless with the ball at times. I'm not sure why Smitch wouldn't take him out. IMO Peterson should have got WAY more playing time. With his experience with practicing with Vince in the past, and also his playoff experience he could have helped alot. But I agree with Drunkballer, we do need some of our other guys to step up. Namely Bargnani and Dixon for some extra fire power of the bench.
Bargnani and Graham definitely showed their inexperience today. I really can't remember one positive play by either one of them and Graham was a liability on both sides of the floor in the 2nd half. I didn't understand the point of keeping him in. I would've put in Peterson when we were making our run. He didn't play great in the first half, but his time was limited and I don't feel its fair to call him out yet. I think he would've played much better if we subbed him in. I also got to question Chris Bosh a little. He was hitting his shots for most of the game, but I was confused with his performance in the 3rd quarter. He was posting up Moore and Collins for some reason, when they are clearly stronger than him. That's just not his game. I wanted him to take it to the rim after the first half, but he didn't play to his strengths by facing up his defender and taking him off the dribble. Very surprising. I'll take this loss and still stay optimistic I guess. Bill Russell really put it into perspective in the beginning of the game, when he said that the younger team starts off on adrenaline and, when that wears off, they need to show that they can play. We were thoroughly outplayed in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and I think NJ's experience and poise really came through. We were playing on emotions for a lot of the game. It was evident with the way we would start runs and come out cold after Frank called a timeout. But there are definitely some positives to come away with. Our run in the 4th quarter was great and IMO, if we hadn't committed so many turnovers in the first half we could've taken the lead. Also, we completely shut down Vince Carter. He had a terrible game and Anthony Parker showed just how important he is. No worries, though. We got Game 2.
Wow I thought you guys were gonna win there for a minute down by 1. Lots of runs in this game New Jersey did a bad job of guarding the perimeter. If Carter continues to play like he is you guys shouldn't have a problem taking care of them in Game 2.
Anthony Parker alternated between Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson, but he was the main reason VC could not get it going. Apparently Joey Graham totally forgot the gameplan, because he did a terrible job defending Jefferson. The Raps needed to make him a jumpshooter and, even while not 100% healthy, Graham let him blow by him on almost every possession.
Man, the raptors bench did nothing. That was supposed to be the strong point, and other then Jose, there wasen't much to speak of. Mo, Juan, Bargs all played very poorly in limited minutes. Graham was on the floor much too long, and they should have gotten AP the ball more when Bosh got his second foul. I have no idea why teams don't play zone the whole game against the raps. The raps have yet to ever get around a zone defense, especially when its thrown out for a long time. If I was Lawrence Frank I'd be running the zone untill the Raps show me that they can beat it. I'm very worried about this series.
<div class="quote_poster">McGrady^1 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">is it just me or do the raptors need to learn how to close out?</div> No you're 100% right. These guys have had trouble closing out all year.
