Hey what do you guys think about acquiring Sebastian Telfair in the summer. Boston is said to think now that their trade of the seventh pick was a failure and is looking to dump him. We could really use his speed and quickness and athletisism. We could turn him into a key disrupter on defence and on offence i wouldn't mind seeing him take open threes since the threes he mainly takes contested created pullups and still shoots 0.289. He gives us another play maker and ball handler. He betters that jump shot and he gives us a Tj Ford/Jameer Nelson. What you guys think we try acquring this guy in the summer for a second round pick?

NOO WAYYY!!! I'd rather see us give Spanoulis playing time and see if he can get his turn overs down. Telfair is just too small and not a good defender. JL3 does basically the same thing as him.

Telfair is quick, but undersized. He's pretty similar to John Lucas except for the fact that he's a better playmaker, but Telfair isn't any sort of dependable three-point shooter. We'd be better off sticking with our current PGs and avoid the trouble, as Telfair won't present a significant upgrade over anyone, and the potential trouble he can bring off the court outweighs the rewards.

    NY Journal News Reports:

YONKERS - Boston Celtics star Sebastian Telfair was arrested early today after police said a loaded hand gun was found in his car when he was stopped for speeding on the Bronx River Parkway in Yonkers.

Telfair, 21, who gave police addresses in White Plains and his native Brooklyn, was stopped shortly before 4 a.m. on the northbound Bronx River Parkway, when police said his 2006 Landrover was clocked going 77 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone.

Police said Telfair, who was driving, produced a Florida driver's license that had been suspended. Westchester County Police Officer Adrian Camacho subsequently found a loaded .45-caliber handgun under the front passenger seat, Westchester County police spokesman Kieran O'Leary said.

Yeah but Billy is not getting on the court because he turnsover the ball alot Telfair doesn't and you know he has NBA three range and you know he can shoot even better than that while open. You also know he would become the second best play maker on the team. Why not give talent a shot.

Telfair doesn't exactly sport a 5 assist/turnover ratio here. He does have three-point range but that is expected out of every guard. He's shot most of his threes at Boston without a hand in his face and he's still not over 30%, what makes you think he'd become someone we'd depend on for three-pointers in Houston? We already have John Lucas; there's no need to have someone with the similar dimensions. We don't really need a Jason Kidd to run this team; just dump it down to Yao and work around him.

The onle way I would do this is if we give enough to get their lottery draft pick + telfair. Downside to a deal like that would be that we would have to give up A REALLY REALLY GOOD player b/c celtics will probably be picking 1 or 2.

lol that is only way I would want to acquire telfair.

I am just saying he a better play maker then our back up, a better shooter, a better defender and has been a starter and would make a great back. We adress the point guard issue a bit because Alston as you can see from van gundy is still the man and he looking for a back up. Telfair would be better than lucas and billy for that and thereforse we can focus on acquiring a pf in the draft and not drafting a PG too high. Plus right now we can get him for like really low price like minimum and with good coaching he could be a good disrupter on D.

Defensively, I'd rather take Lucas. Telfair is too weak and gets posted up by opposing guards too often. You can't just go after every player who is a bit better than our backups, especially when they don't factor in too much in games anyways. We can get similar point guards in free agency who don't bring that much negativity off the court.

If you take a look at the current Rockets roster pretty much every player has a good track record off the court. I really don't want Telfair influencing our young guys, and if that means passing up on a borderline talent, then so be it.

Hmmm if you think so highly of his skills then explain to me why Boston released him. He was overrated from the start, not a good shooter period, and really needs to grow up. Spanoulis>Telfair
