<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">TORONTO ? In fairness to Jose Calderon, there probably should have been someone there. The Raptors' Spanish point guard was going left off a high pick-and-roll, dragging virtually the entire New Jersey Nets defence with him when he wheeled and whipped a pass to the open man in the right hand corner. Unfortunately it was the open men. As in, the entire Raptors bench, standing in their white warm-ups, caught up in the excitement of the new-era Raptors first playoff game. What could have, should have been a pass for a three-pointer that could have, might have, put the Raptors up by a point with just over three minutes to play, was an embarrassing turnover. The Nets said thanks, went the other way, got fouled, hit a free throw and the Raptors chances of an unlikely 13-point comeback that much more unlikely. You can't really blame Calderon. Raptors head coach Sam Mitchell didn't. "We had all our guys standing up with the white warm-ups," Mitchell said. "He thought it was one of our players. What can you do? You can't put them in different colours." But it was a key mistake. One of a small mountain made by the Raptors as they came out, saw the crowd at the sold-out Air Canada Centre, felt the energy and then spent most of the afternoon playing like they were trying to run through two feet of water. Bostjan Nachbar can't be left open for three-pointers and he was. The Raptors needed to move the ball against the Nets zone and they didn't. And on and on. With Game 1 of the first round series in the books all the Raptors know is they're trailing 1-0 in the seven-game series. They don't know if the Nets are actually better, or simply more experienced.</div> Source: The Globe and Mail Apparently they switched up the play before they started and Joey Graham missed the call. He was supposed to be where Calderon was passing the ball.
I thought it was just that Calderon confused Martin with the players on the court. There's no way we could blame Calderon anyways, he pretty much was that whole comeback.
