<div class="quote_poster">Iggy Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">The Giver is a must read. Not sure who the author is though.</div> That book is so weird. I remember when I first read it I was so confused. Imagine if the world was completely without color and feelings...
im a big reader of 50's and 60's beat writers. some of the best books ive read are: On the road by jack kerouac-this book and allen ginsberg are solely responsible for the existence of bob dylan, jim morrison and influenced everything that 60's were about, its probably the most influential peice of writing besides the bible, and thats not just my opinion. junky by william bouroughs naked lunch by william bourroughs anything written by william blake (poet) anything written by allen ginsberg (poet) visions of cody by jack kerouac dharma bums by jack kerouac bhagvad gita-hare krsna, buddhism and ancient indian religions there is alot more but i cant think of them all right now

I used to read every night (my way of falling asleep) until the 7th grade, but that habit unfortunetly died as the Internet became more prominent. I'm trying to slowly get back into reading nowadays, but since most of my nights are filled with staying up to do assignments and homework, I don't know if I'll be able to make it a habit again. From when I used to read, these were the books I enjoyed the most (that I can remember): Fiction Jerry Spinelli - Maniac Magee - Read this first when I was in grade 6 or so, and to this day remains one of the best books I have ever read. The story in itself is amazing. J.D Salinger - The Catcher In The Rye Surprisingly, that's pretty much the only novels that I can remember. I was more into reading biographies than anything. which brings me to my list for non-fictional books: Dennis Rodman - Bad As I Wanna Be - Loved this book from start to finish. Magic Johnson - My Life Sam Smith - The Jordan Rules I really want to read Jack McCallum's :07 Seconds or Less and Phil Jackson's The Last Season.
<div class="quote_poster">Brian Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> This book is going to be so ghetto ganster</div> I can't wait for this. I only started HP last year and thought it was a kids book, boy was I mistaken.
Even though its nerdy I read Harry Potter to..lol Barack Obama's book Dreams From My Father is good to.
I honestly haven't done any independant reading in over a year or so aside from a book I picked up for a bus ride back home from school this past winter break, called <u>The Cosmic Game: Explorations of the Frontiers of Human Consciousness</u> by Stanislav Grof. My friend said it changed his life. It didn't have quite that big of an impact on me, but I did enjoy his perspective on parapsychology. As for all-time favorites, I've read everything Oscar Wilde's written and love it all. I've also been trying to get into Nietzsche, but I just haven't had the time to read more than three or four of his essays. I'm fascinated by existentialism though, so I'll probably be reading more of him in the future.
Grof is good people. Nietzsche is good too. It was hard for me to get into him, but hell I was about 15-16 when I started reading his stuff. I had no perspective.
An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding - David Hume I finally finished it and, out of all the philosophy books I've read, it made the most sense to me.
Golden Compass, Subtle Knife, Amber Sypglass-Phillip Pullman Bleachers-John Grisham Eragon series-? 7 Seconds or Less-Jack McCallum Ball 4-Jim Bouton Guns, Germs, and Steel-Jared Diamond Harry Potter-J.K. Rowlings There's lots more I cant think of at the moment. the Giver is by Lois Lowry. its part of series, with the other books being Gathering Blue and the Messenger. Gathering Blue isnt directly related to the Giver, but the Messenger picks off where the Giver left off.
Newjack: Guarding Sing Sing by Ted Connover Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid by Jimmy Carter Nickel and Dimed: On (not) getting by in America by Barbara Ehrenreich Bread and Roses by Bruce Watson Of Mice and Men Animal Farm I didn't really think much of the Odyssey. Not much of a fantasy/fiction reader. I wish I read more books.
Im a fantasy book geek. Favorites are: The Dragonlance Chronicles. Winter, Fall, Autumn, and of course Summer Flame. Can someone say Tasselholf??? Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. It has slowed down to a crawl, but the first five books were GREAT!!!! Rand al Thor and the Aei Sedai kick bootay!!! A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin! I can't wait for A Dance with Dragons. Jon and Tyrion are my favorites!
