<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Like a good jewel inspector, the NBA playoffs indicate true value. Value is the most elusive quantity to measure in the league. Just try to find a group of three who will give identical answers on who the most valuable player is, or even what constitutes value. Well, in this Lakers-Phoenix Suns series we've learned why the league MVP wasn't Kobe Bryant or Steve Nash. Value is best measured in victories, and Bryant's skills and scoring ability were barely enough to win 42 games in the regular season, and so far they've translated into losses in two postseason games.</div> Source: L.A. That's some bullsh*t. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Value is best measured in victories, and Bryant's skills and scoring ability were barely enough to win 42 games in the regular season, and so far they've translated into losses in two postseason games.</div> They're putting all the blame on Kobe with that wording. It's a freakin' team game. He can only do so much.

Wait, I don't get it though. So basically he's saying both Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant aren't MVP? Then who is? Dirk Nowitzki? The guy who chokes in crunch time?

^ When has he ever stepped up in crunch time? I can't think of too many games. Personally I'd rather have Terry or Stack taking the last shot if I were a Mavs fan

^I'd personally choose Dirk. <div class="quote_poster">phunDamentalz Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">That's what happens when you're the best player. I'd even mention Erick Dampier over Kwame Brown. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chutney:</div><div class="quote_post">Care to back that up?</div> Not at you, just FYI type info, but Dirk's crunch time stats are better than both Nash and Bryant.

Not a whole lot. Meanwhile IF Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown lived up to their potential then Kobe would have a decent supporting cast. Lamar was the Clippers go to guy early in his career as a primary option and Kwame was the #1 pick of the Wizards supposed to be their new franchise player. I think we can agree that Smush is the worst starting PG in the league and Luke Walton is not exactly an offensive juggernaut. even if Lamar and Kwame both played to their potential, the cast would still not be at PHX level but a hell of a lot closer. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Dirk's crunch time stats are better than both Nash and Bryant.</div>ouch. take that Dirk hataz....
Can you show me the stats please? I'm not saying I don't believe you, I just want to see the stats. I mean, didn't Dirk himself admit he crumbles in the crunch?

Nowitzki Kobe Nash <div class="quote_poster">Quoting phunDamentalz:</div><div class="quote_post">What were LB and Diaw doing before they started playing with Nash? Not a whole lot.</div> It's an uncertainty to determine whether or not Diaw is/got better by playing alongside Nash, or just simply getting more minutes. Plus since Amare came back, Diaw is not even close to what he was last year. I kind of think it's safe to say that Diaw would be the same with or without(maybe even slightly better) a different team. Barbosa is kind of a moot point as he is usually a back up to Nash anyway. Regardless, another thing to factor in is more minutes(again), and the Suns coaching staff letting Barbosa operate with the ball more. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting phunDamentalz:</div><div class="quote_post">Meanwhile IF Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown lived up to their potential then Kobe would have a decent supporting cast.</div> Exactly my point, to be honest. Kobe has quite a few players that never really lived up to potential. If they had, then I'd agree. Kobe is the face of the franchise, he has a stellar supporting cast, it is his fault. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting phunDamentalz:</div><div class="quote_post">Lamar was the Clippers go to guy early in his career as a primary option</div> Then you look at their record.... 1999-2000: 15-67 2000-2001: 31-51 2001-2002: 39-43 2002-2003: 27-55 <div class="quote_poster">Quoting phunDamentalz:</div><div class="quote_post">even if Lamar and Kwame both played to their potential, the cast would still not be at PHX level but a hell of a lot closer.</div> I completely agree with you, but the point is, they haven't. Which means you can't blame Kobe for all the Lakers woes.
The biggest misconception about Dirk Nowitzki is that he is not clutch. He is exactly the opposite. I've seen him hit so many big shots. And he does it repeatedly. Quit saying that crap.
While watching the Suns-Dallas 2OT game it was clear that Nowitzki chokes, Nash doesen't choke. I really haven't seen Nowitzki step up in the last minutes of the game. But i've seen multiple clutch plays by Bryant and some by Nash.
Kobe doesnt amount to wins? And what, Dirk does? lmao *cough* 2-1 down to the Warriors (8th seed) *cough*

What a biased comment, the fact is that Dirk is playing bad right now in the first round, but he was more than clutch in the regular season. It doesn't matter if Dirk's team loses in five games, the MVP award is a regular season achievement.
