^^I think we can get him in the 15-17 million dollar range. No team is going to offer him the 20 mil, and out of all the teams interested, we may have the best chances of being a contender.

How do you figure? The Heat are already over the cap. The only way you could land VC is a sign and trade. Why would New Jersey send Vince Carter to an Eastern Contender, when Miami doesn't really have much to offer in return?

The only ways the Heat could get Vince is,

    1. Vince takes the MLE
    2. New Jersey takes Antoine Walker in a deal
    3. Shaq is involved in the trade
    4. A 3 way trade

3 way trades are hard to make, I don't think Miami would trade Shaq unless he wants to be traded, I don't think New Jersey would want to have Antoine Walker.

So I think it basically depends on Vince, whether or not he would want the MLE with the Heat.

Miami could offer Jason Williams (expiring contract) and possibly S&T James Posey with him for Vince Carter. However, why does NJ do this, I have no idea.

Jason Williams is making ~$9 million next season, expiring or not, he's not going to be easy to trade because the other team will have to send close to $9 million in contract back to Miami, so trading him or getting rid of him shouldn't be the first plan.

Charlie Bell is a restricted FA for Milwaukee, that would be a nice guy to go after for Miami. Of course, like I said, restricted, so Milwaukee isn't likely to just let him go. He's got a great three point shot, he's more of a SG than a PG, and that's perfectly fine with Wade, and he's a very good defensive player.

Wade should not play PG though, as in a lineup where he's actually listed at the PG with a guy like Kapono at the two. It gives him way too much ball handling responsibilities as he becomes the primary, secondary, and third ball handler. It's better for him to be the main playmaker, but share the ball handling with another guy.

The other option I like is Mike James, in the right system he can defend, he can push the ball, he can create his own shot, and he's a good catch and shoot player.

Miami can't re-sign Posey, Kapono and Eddie Jones. If they bring back EJ and Kapono, they get quite unathletic. I think Posey and Kapono is the way to go, though I like EJ's defense for them. Last season, injuries made all these guys able to get minutes, but all three can't really work.

G: Jason Williams / (Other G - Charlie Bell maybe, try and trade for Mike James)
G: Dwyane Wade / (Charlie Bell if they got him could play here too)
F: Dorell Wright / James Posey / Jason Kapono
F: Udonis Haslem / Antoine Walker
    C: Shaquille O'neal

Some other guys to look at that I like: Morris Peterson, Jason Hart
Try and see if Alonzo wants to come back, or look for a backup C (Kelvin Cato?, Melvin Ely?)

That is a good analysis og15.

I'd think it would be great if the Heat could trade Antoine somehow. I think they can upgrade at every position but SG and C.

^^What woudl Dallas take? J-Will? I doubt it.

I think our best bet is getting a PG like Law or Crittenton in the draft and then trying to build them up for the starting spot in a year or 2 from now.

Why would the Blazers want to trade for a useless, old, over-paid chucker for a talent like Zach Randolph? I understand Randolph isn't exactly a saint, but come on, they can do better than that.

A year or 2 from now? I don't think you guys can wait a year or 2, given how Shaq is aging, and how much his playing level has fallen off. Your best bet will be to somehow trade the pick in a package for a veteran point guard who has a drive for a championship ring

Acie Law would be the guy you'd want, cause he's a true point guard physically. Crittenton is a big guard who plays the point, which is good, but with Wade at 6'4, it'd be hard to guard a smaller, quicker guard like Tony Parker in a finals series. Also, since Wade is going to be the primary ballhandler anyways, having a guy with Law's clutch shooting reputation would be good.

^^I don't think that Law will be gone at 20. I think Crittenton is going to be better for us actually. He's a big guard who is going to be stronger than a lot of other PG's and will be able to back down like Chauncey Billups does. Plus he adds more athleticism to our offense.

As for Green, he's a mid/late second rounder at best. I think a guy like Aaron Brooks would help us a lot more.

I think Law and Brooks are the top two point men after Conley... truth be told, I think Law will have a better career than Conley all told.

It is worth remembering that I'm crazy, though.
