How do you know that? He did for most of the playoffs last year.

So Amare and Marion = Terry and Howard? Listen to Chutney about generalizations (and Kobe still shouldn't have been used in that analogy).

They won 67 games because Dirk was having a monster regular season which I can't say about Nash. Monster = Strong MVP PER. The Suns have great chemistry and two superstars along with another All-Star.

If Dirk is so tuff why isnt he dominating the warriors? there is no one on the warriors who should be able to stop him. He just doesnt have that mental toughness to take the beating. why is he fading away on 6'8 players? Hes a mismatch for any body guarding him in the warriors. they arent even double teaming dirk. He got to play in a way that demands a double to free up his teammates. Dirk=SOFT!!!

His entire career comes down to 4 games? The Mavs have always struggled against the Warriors yet have taken advantage of nearly every other team in the playoffs.

Stars are made in the regular seasons Greatness is acheved during the post season.

And answer my questions about his play if he's not soft.

Was he really soft last year? No. The Law of averages states that players go on streaks and slumps. Since the Warriors do drive the ball at will against the Mavs, they're probably in his head or he is exerting too much energy on defense.

I agree completley.. Dirk will probabaly go kill himself after the Warriors knock him out of the playoffs.[IMG]

    <div class="quote_poster">THE DREAM Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">lol, I could care less about stats....I'll take Kobe,Wade,Billups,Gordon,Tmac (although he's been pussin it up as of late),Nash,Barbosa,Bron,Sheed,Amare,Bibby,Arenas,Redd,Duncan,KG,Melo,A.I.,Deng,M
anu,B. Davis, etc. all over Dirk in a heart beat to win me a big game down the stretch and hit big shots "in the playoffs"...this guy is soft, and he'll stink it up again on Tuesday to solidify this thread.....</div>

You laugh at the stat because it doesn't agree with your statement. Stats might tell everything, but it gives you tangible evidence, and the evidence overwhelmingly contradicts your claim.

The Warriors are a tough matchup for Dirk. Typically Dirk is used to having slower forwards on him, everyone from Golden State is faster and can stay infront of Dirk.

You mention he should post up more. Where is Dirk going to post up, when the Warriors are playing a collapsing zone defense designed to stop him, and force him to pass the ball out?

I'd take some of the players you mentioned ahead of Dirk, but it doesn't prove he's soft and non-clutch. Some of the players on the list are just better at performing in crunch time and having more options to score a needed basket.

Hardcore players that are deemed superstars use their given talent to adapt. Dirk, being a softie, can't seem to adapt to the style of GS. How can you call a guy who can't play any defense anything but soft? We've seen so many times how a true superstar outwits the coaching staff and counters everything that the opposition throws at them. That's called hard core. Dirk the dragon killer better get his act together, and quit shooting fades over smaller defenders. Since he can't do a damn thing on defense, he needs to start taking it to the rack or at least do something else instead of jacking up 2 lucky 3's at the end of the game which still wasn't enough.

He's a good team defender and his plus/minus numbers have always indicated that he gets too much grief on defense.

    Another vague assumption.

He has 8 FTA per game, he's taking it to the rack enough times and his getting a bunch of offensive rebounds too (he's averaging 4.8 Offensive Boards and 11.5 RPG).

He only needs to get off that shooting slump of his, the Mavs did only lose by four points in GS, this series is not over.

I say either dirk has to take it to the rim more or just kill them from the arc. His shot is indefensable.hes got to be the dirk from 4 years ago.

Dirk has adapted to the defense. He's become a facilitator for his other teammates instead of forcing his offense against double and triple teams. His FG% has really dipped in the series, but that's in large part due to the Warriors defense against him. Nothing has come easy for Dirk or any of the other Mavericks in this series.

okay pull up his stats from this series, his series against the rockets a couple of years ago, and his stats in last year finals....what do all these things have in common???.....Dirk was captain Puss in all of them...Dirk is now saying that "he looks to be more passive tonight", and Avery has called him out on losing his confidence....Dirk is easy to shake, players who are easy to shake = soft mentally.

You only want examples for three series he struggled in. What about the other playoff series he's been apart of and had success? Isn't it better to go for accuracy and use all the data available (good & bad) to determine whether Dirk is a clutch performer or not?

Avery Johnson should be criticizing himself. This is the second year in a row he's been out coached. He's made zero adjustments to slow down what the Warriors like doing. Same thing happened in last year's Finals, no adjustments after Riley adopted new schemes after losing the first two games of the series.

Avery made the mistake of trying to matchup with Golden State, instead of forcing the Warriors to match up with his Mavs. If you wants to go small, shouldn't he have Terry and Harris out there at the same time?

I use these examples, because whenever a team is aggressive with Dirk and they really bring the pressure he always seems to wilt away......I don't get how anyone could trust this guy in a REALLY big game in the post season.......Dirk = soft.

What do you expect Dirk to do when the defense is geared to stop him and deny him the ball? You want Dirk to still shoot when he has 2 or 3 defenders sandwiching him?

A few weeks back you siad the reason the Mavs were so successful was Josh Howard and Jason Terry and NOT Dirk. But now they're losing it's Dirk's fault and not those guys?? Come on.
