^^^according to this shot chart Dirk still didn't play in the paint tonight .....seriously it's funny how this thread was quiet UNTIL the game was over, lol....you guys know you were thinking "wow Dream was right" before Puss threw in a couple of "lucky" (and by luck I mean just throwing them up, because you're teams down 9....) shots at the end....dude has to do a lot more to convince me that he is a big game player...oh well he won't even get a chance to prove it Thursday because I honestly think G. States knows they lost control at the end.....I kinda hope Dirk proves me wrong, because G. State is a bad match up for my rockets.....

wow you are a bad loser my friend, that's 2 whole paragraphs of "yeah, but...."'s...
Face it, Dirk stepped up, you lost, contact the Graphics team[IMG]

He scored 12 of the last 15 points in a 6-point win in a WIN OR GO HOME game. I suppose he "disappeared" when the pressure was on again, YET scored 12 of the last 15 in a 6-point win.....

Dream is a hater. That's all that needs to be said.

I don't feel like explaining the numbers/stats, especially after tonights performance.

    1. How many times does it take for you to realize that Nowitzki isn't post-up type of player. He takes people off the dribble or hits the J over them. People don't criticize Rasheed, Bosh, or Garnett for playing that way. Why should he get it?

    2. Most of us didn't say anything because we were busy watching the game.

    3. Lucky shots?

    4. He may not have changed your opinion yet, but he surpassed all the criteria you set out for him in the bet.

mmmmmmmm, I don't know, because one of the reasons I made the bet is because Dirk had to play in the paint tonight....and he didn't do that going from watching the game and the shot chart.....I'm not really worried about the sig ,I'll sport it, because it's just a sig for a week, and I'm a man (something Dirk will never be) of my word, I'm more worried about you guys thinking this man is a big game player.......seriously I want you to answer this question (all you Dirk supporters), what were you thinking of Dirk with 3 minutes left in the game (and be honest)....because I find it amazing how all the trash talk comes AFTER the fact that he threw in a couple of 3s.....I think the biggest reason Dirk isn't a go to guy is because he's "limited" offensively....a guy 7 ft. who can't score in the paint = somewhat pathetic.

actually they do....I've always thought that Sheed could be HOF material if he played in the paint more, and KGs lack of an inside game has always been a knock on him in my books.

Wow, guy get a grip you're not THAT important to some of us. I was not thinking about Dream during the game. I was actually thinking about how Dirk **** blocked that one fellow and then hit another three thereby taking the game over.

And as for Dirk being limited offensively, I just find that kind of funny. You don't know much about Dirk.

He got to the free throw line 15 times.

With the 3 minutes left, I was thinking how everyone on the Mavericks, besides Josh Howard absolutely stunk up the joint. But that's why we talk about playing the clutch. I thought Nowitzki played poorly, but he stepped up when it mattered. That's the mark of a big-time player carrying his team when it matters most.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting THE DREAM:</div><div class="quote_post">actually they do....I've always thought that Sheed could be HOF material if he played in the paint more, and KGs lack of an inside game has always been a knock on him in my books.</div>
No they don't. Rasheed gets criticized for being too emotional and slightly inconsistent. Garnett gets criticized for not demanding the ball enough. Bosh gets criticized for not playing defense. But none of them get criticized for playing their own style. Not everyone at the 4-spot has to a strict post-player. It's not the 1960's anymore: basketball has diversified. The fact is that their style of play can be just as efficient as traditional post play. They draw fouls as easy (if not easier), but they also challenge defenders to step out of their comfort zone.

way to avoid the question.......when Dallas was down and Dirk wasn't showing up, what were your thoughts on him at that moment???.....did you think "dirk didn't show up tonight" or "yeah dirk is surely clutch"???...simple question...I find it funny that no one answered this question and everyone waited to talk smack in this thread after there were triple 0's on the clock.

to be honest everyone will talk about Dirks 3's but it was the ability of Devin Harris's penetration and defense in the 4th quarter that was the key for the mavs.

I find it funny that any time you are proven wrong you say "those stats don't count" or bring up some bogus comments about the paint.

When the Mavs were down I simply thought it was time for people like Stackhouse to stop jacking up the ball (with some of those radical shots).

What are you talking about? Dirk blocked that fellow and got 8 points after the Warriors got their biggest lead.

I was actually thinking Dirk would step up in the waning minutes cause i've seen him do it too many times. As far as points "not mattering" that is a joke. 12 of the last 15 points says it all.

somehow I don't believe that.....oh well I'm done arguing for the night, because until Dirk shows me (on a consistent basis in big games) that he's a big game player, he'll still be a softee in my book....even dallasdude knows this (and he's a big mavs fan, and dirk "realist", the term hater is so harsh)

The thing is, that's why the game is 48 minutes and not 45. He stepped up in the clutch, when it mattered, and carried his team like a superstar should. Why can't you admit that?

Pointing to dallasdude doesn't strengthen your argument by any means.

I felt Dirk needed to hog the ball more at about the 3:40 mark (112-103 GS), then like clockwork he did.

yeah he stepped up "tonight".....but the thing is can he do it again and again on a consistent basis in big playoff games.....history has shown us no...one moment he's hitting a layup in the SA series to tie the game, then the next he's pulling a disappearing act in the FINALS!!!.....the bottome line is in this series dirk has been less clutch, than actually "clutch"....I'm not the type of fan to get caught up in one game, you have to really prove yourself....

Not that it matters, but I was HOPING Dirk would choke. I placed a bet with my cousin that Golden State would take the series, and I was rubbing it in when they were about to lose when it was 112-103, Golden State.

Why don't you just look at high lights from this season if you want to see Dirk's clutch. He hit a good percentage of his clutch shots, so you'll be bound to find a good portion of them. [IMG]

Just so you know, good players will have bad games. They will also miss clutch shots.

Also bringing up last years Finals is really a terrible argument.

This stuff isn't alien to many Laker fans, though. When your team has the, or one of the, best players in the NBA, he will get heavily criticized. However, the only real argument you can have against Dirk, is his defense.
