<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He is a 6-foot-6 shooting guard and vertical genius who played three seasons at North Carolina, and the real-world comparisons to Michael Jordan always have died right there. In the end, Vince Carter was cursed by his talent and his choice of Division I scholarships. He was the Next Michael. Never mind that no such thing would ever exist. At age 30, nine years into his NBA life, Vince Carter isn't about to fill Jordan's Nikes any more than he's going to return to the Raptors as a free agent this summer. But Carter has a chance right here, right now, to forever trash the notion that he is the anti-Jordan, a conscience-free gunner with no enduring will to win. If Carter keeps playing like he played in this 102-81 Game 4 thrashing of the Raptors, as he did in the Game 3 triumph that turned the series in the Nets' favor, his NBA skeletons never again should come spilling out of anyone's closet. He scored 21 of his 27 points Sunday night in the first half, 48 hours after he finished with 37. Carter will confront LeBron James in the next round. It's his chance to get to a place he's never been: the Eastern Conference finals.</div> Source: North Jersey
Great find. Ive been with Vince his entire career. 1st 4 years he was a solid player with crazy highlights. his last years in Toronto, he was a jump shooter who lost his way. Hes found a home in Jersey and he has put it all together. Exciting times to be a Vince fan. Playing at his best at age 30.
He is playing pretty good. Unfortunately his only motivation is to destroy the raptors. Chances are if it weren't the raptors, the nets would pretty much lose to anyone else. After they finish off the raptors, they will be even stronger than if they hadn't played the raptors. Raptors are still young and inexperienced. Beating them really proves nothing since they are already playoff newbs. So why would Vince be compared to anyone since he's beating a teams first time in the playoffs (their roster) that is. I feel the nets can go far this year since Chicago finished off the Heat. In reality, Chicago and Pistons deserve to make it to the finals, but the Nets might take their spot, commonly the case in this world. Anyways, I support Kidd, go nets!

He played almost better against the Pacers. Was that just because it was the Pacers? He had a sensational Game 5. 35pts and 16 boards (around there.) I think he was really rattled in Toronto and it showed. I am a Kidd supporter as well. I followed him and taped his best stuff in 2002 where he was playing amazing.
<div class="quote_poster">The Legend Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets are not going to beat the Cavs. LeBron is a much better player then Carter.</div> We have not even beat the Raptors yet...dont be so cocky I agree wtih Kenny Smith. When Vince is on his game, there is not much differnece between him and Lebron. Although Barkley laughed it off as you are going to too I bet Also Bill Walton says that Vince is in the same category of Lebron and Kobe. I think Kobe is much better than Vince but Vince is up there. Also Sam Mitchell says Vince is in the eltie category of 4 or 5 guys who can take over a game. I could do on but since you won't listen I shant... By the way, great argument! A lot of valid points!
It says when the nets will be in the conference finals, are u kidding, they have the raps first then the cavs, who they will nto beat, and if they do, you have the pistons. and even then IF THEY MAKE IT, u have the suns, who im sorry will DESTROY the nets.

When VC is "truly" on, he's better than Lebron and he's definitely one of the best guards in the league. The problem is he's so inconsistent and its rare to see him like that. It doesn't seem like he has an "on switch" like a lot of the top players in the game who can turn up the intensity when the pressure increases. If he starts out good and gets in a comfortable rhythm he can reach that level, but otherwise its rare.

He did that in his early days in Torotno and it almost worked out. But he has the talent of a Kobe Bryant but the team play of a Lebron. Hes a team player at heart so its kinda hard to compare him to a Kobe and a Wade. Hes not like them in my eyes. Having watched all his games hes been incredibly consistant with the exception of going up to Toronto with the booing.

Can you read? And when did the Suns make it into the finals?
Short of winning the championship (which is obviously not going to happen), I fail to see how one good series will change the view of Vince around the league that he himself has helped to create over the course of his career. Anyone that watched him play out his final days in Toronto knows that he half-assed it on everything he did just to get traded. That lost him a lot of respect around the league and likely damaged his reputation beyond repair. No matter how much talent he possesses, he can never be compared to guys like Kobe, Iverson or Wade because you would never see them playing half-assed in games no matter what the situation is.
How good has he really been in this series though? He stunk up the joint in the first two games. He lit it up in the next two. And last night I thought he was mediocre. He only really stepped up when Peterson fouled out. And you have to remember, the Raptors aren't exactly a lockdown defensive team.
<div class="quote_poster">STC Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">What? 1 player doesn't make a team.</div> Um.. Last time i checked.. LeBron is the reason the Cavs win.. as for the 1 player coment for Carter i agree, he will not be the reason they win, that is to say if they win.
<div class="quote_poster">Eclipse Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Anyone that watched him play out his final days in Toronto knows that he half-assed it on everything he did just to get traded.</div> I watched every Vince Carter game since the beginning of the 2003-2004 season and have recorded everything he has done since then so I know my stuff. Half assed with their win vs Houston on opening night? Half assed his awesome 4th quarter to beat the World Champs the next game? Half assed his sensational game vs Portland capped off by a sweet game winner? Maybe cause I did not live in Toronto or something, but I knew Vince was going to get traded because he was really angry with management and did not want to play for losers. So I really expected him not to play much in the 04-05 season. I went to the game @Portland and Carter hit 1 shot, then got benched, then hit another shot in the 2nd half, then got benched. It was clear that the organization had moved on so that really didnt factor in to anything from my perspective. And low and behold, since Vince left, management has changed, and ALL THE PLAYERS are gone cept Mo Pete and Bosh. They did a good job cleaning house and now have a great team again! and vince is winning on another team so good for him. Both teams are better off is my point. So get over it. And as for that "interview" where he said "I didnt try all the time", Vince said it was edited and he loves Toronto, John Thomson ADMITTED it was edited and called Vince the night it aired to apologize how bad it made him look, and its so obvious it was edited to make him look bad because they show CU of Thomson asking a question WITHOUT showing Vince listening, then cut back to Vince already in thought and "answering" his question. Sam Mitchell said something like hes sick of it and wants them to move on. All Vince can do is play his game and help his team win, in any way he can. He has the talent of a kobe bryant and the mentality of a real team player. And for me, a basketball fan and a nets fan, its so fun to watch My advice to you Eclipse: MOVE ON! Stop drinkin the Haterade and just Move the ***** on
