Bruce Bowen is at it again: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Phoenix All-Star Amare Stoudemire says the San Antonio Spurs are a "dirty team" and that Bruce Bowen tried to hurt him, nasty accusations sure to intensify the playoff series between two of the best teams in the NBA. "He kicked me purposely in the back of my Achilles. I almost came down wrong and he almost caused an injury," Stoudemire said after Thursday's practice. "He's known for doing that. I just hope the NBA and the commissioner take a look at that because it's definitely a dirty play."</div> LINK Here is the YouTube video of it, it seems pretty obvious Bowen took a deliberate shot at his foot area, dunno if he meant to hurt him or just keep him from jumping (either way it's bush league for somebody who is supposed to be a great defender): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc4yz__akIU
I've seen a lot worse from Bowen, he actually does try to get his right foot out of the way at the last moment when Amare is coming down. Amare claimed Bowen kicked him on the play. It's really hard to tell in the video with that angle because Bowen's body is blocking the camera. Amare definitely came down awkward on the play, and if he landed on Bowen's foot he could have injured his ankle, or even worse his knee.
Stu Jackson said they are not even going to look into it!! If this were Ron Artest or Stephen Jackson the NBA would have their microscope out determining whether a year ban from the NBA is long enough... such hypocracy!

Especially if you consider the coach he's under, the fact that they blew out the spurs in the 2nd game and there is essentially nothing to gain from lying about this. So, given that Amare was the one it happened to and probably has more of an "inside scoop" on different players than any of us could have, I'm inclined to believe him. Unfortunately since the NBA won't investigate it, all this does is give another (and now more tangible) reason to dislike the spurs and "Cry me a river" Bowen. Hopefully at the very least the refs will keep a closer eye on Bowen for awhile. If not to catch him at it then at least to prevent him from it.
Just now watched the video and holy crap that was blatant. Even the moving of his foot back, that's probably just him covering his own ass since he was out in the open and plain view. What a fucking chickenshit.

Then if Bowen bitches about it he would be a huge hypocrite.

Sadly, I think the most that can be done is to bring continued awareness and attention to it. I just surfed through several diff youtube clips from games where Bowen does that to several different people, even injuring Parker from Toronto. What a piece of garbage Bowen is. No heart, nothing but thug actions and crybaby responses.

I don't want to see Bowen get injured on a dirty play anymore than I want to see Francis, Carter, or Amare get injured from a dirty play. There's no place in the NBA for injuring somebody on purpose, we pay a lot of money to see certain players, it's basically stealing our money if somebody injuries another player on purpose.

I'm sure Bowen will sneak in a few cheap shots when he can get away with it (along with Manu possibly), that's why this league needs enforcers like in the 80's. I could care less if Bowen gets injured, but I would like to see a league where these players can be more respectful.

I was just commenting on what I saw from the video clip and for me it was inconclusive. A camera shot from the baseline would clearly show if and how hard Bowen kicked Amare.

I just wanted to lead out my argument for believing him with a few bits of logical thinking. And now having seen the video in question, along with numerous others.. there is no question in my mind that Bowen is a no-talent hack gifted with an athletic body that he uses in a way disgraceful to his team, the league and the entire sport. Trying to injure your fellow players puts you at the bottom of the scum barrel in my opinion. If you can't defend without threatening and causing potentially career ending injuries then you just plain can not defend at all.

Haha, good one. Now excuse me while my vision fades to red after seeing his ugly mug with that "what'd I do?" expression.

I agree with you and Scorbutic though, I've always felt Bowen was a bush league player and a hack. I'm really surprised no one has gone after him and knocked him out. What happened to all the enforcers on a team? Guys like Charles Oakley or Rick Mahorn who protected their star players when someone took a cheap shot at them. I don't want to see Bowen seriously injured, but I'm waiting for the day someone bloodies his nose or lip to let him know what he's doing is classless.

<div class="quote_poster">unbeliever Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I think he needs to take a dirt nap in front of the Irish Spring!</div> Lol, I dunno if Pat Burke is the enforcer type (I think that's the reference you're going for) <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What happened to all the enforcers on a team? Yeah I miss Charles Oakley, the Eastern Conference Playoff games in the 90s were outstanding, I'd never miss a New York/Indiana game... now I rarely see more than a few minutes of an Eastern Playoff game.
<div class="quote_poster">scorbutic Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Lol, I dunno if Pat Burke is the enforcer type (I think that's the reference you're going for) </div> Yeah I know, he's just the biggest non-numbers kinda guy I could think of. Plus he's irish, shouldn't he have some bar fighting skills?
I am stupefied not of Bowen's actions, but because of the response that it's getting. It's like saying to me that, at midnight, trees uproot themselves and go for walks. The whole "stop whining Amare" and "that's Spurs post-season toughness"....plus, his teammates and coach don't have his back. If you remember the game, I remember Amare coming down awkwardly and running back and thinking "what's wrong with him?". I didn't see the kick until after the statement and said that it makes sense now. The only problem I have with it is I wouldn't have gone to the media.....I would've gone directly to Bruce and would've just said, calmly "Kick me one more time. I have already forgave you but you do it one more time ". Nash gets kneed and the world is on fire (which seems like it would be closer to unintentional than the kick) and everyone is seeing that there "MIGHT" be some dirty tactics at play here. Too bad the league has known about for quite some time and just brushed it off.
