Stern: "Warriors Weren't Supposed to Win"

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In an interview with ESPN during Friday's game in New Jersey between the Nets and Warriors, David Stern was asked how he felt about the 8th seed Warriors defeating the top-seeded Mavericks.

"They were never supposed to," said Stern. "The four out of seven was supposed to make sure that the better team won."</div>

Stern's probably pissed about no Mavs vs Suns WCF. That would've made huge ratings, which means $$$$$

I would prefer a Warriors vs Suns series. Just imagine the offensive explosion from both teams, would be a great matchup.

In an interview Barkley said the Mavs vs. Warriors had the highest ratings of all the first round series this year and highest ratings ever for a 1 vs 8th seed...

The best team did win, it was the Warriors.

I think a lot of people across the country ar behind this team and are going to watch the GS games. I'm definately rooting for them to beat whoever wins Houston and Utah.

I been a big Warriors supporter during this first round series, but I love Mcgrady so if the Rockets advance, I'm going to be cheering for the Rockets next round. However, Baron Davis a man among boys thus far in the playoffs.

Yeah right this is even bigger ratings if the Warriors make it to the WCF.

If the suns don't make it, I'd like to see the GSW go all the way. You can't not like a team with that much grit and determination.

Hey Stern: Its a goddamn 7 game series, the better team did win. Thats why we play 7 game series and don't do one-and-done like the NFL or NCAA tourney or even 5 game series, the best team always wins a 7 game series and the Warriors won. Hell it wasn't even really close, if it weren't for a border-line miracle run the last few minutes of Game 5 the series would have been over then and the Mavs other win came when Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson got thrown out, the Warriors blew the Mavs out twice too while the Mavs wins weren't lopsided. This wasn't an upset, the better team won, and it wasn't a "choke job" on the Mavs part, they never had control of the series and got flat out beat by GS.

I might even argue that GS-Suns WCF would get as good or better ratings because the whole country likes to see these two teams play, that series would be insane.

To David Stern: You are pathetic [IMG] . The Warriors won fair and square and you need to take your foot out of mouth and realize that Mavs got pwned this time. They made a way to overcome your little scheme to short hand them, get over yourself [IMG] .

The Warriors are going all the way, now that Dave has said this. It's gonna be sweet.

If the best team is supposed to win every time, then why not even have the playoffs? Just crown the team with best regular season record the champion.[IMG]

It'd surely be better than this snooze fest the suns vs spurs are likely to be. Don't get me wrong, I love the suns and I respect the spurs. But watching a spurs game is like watching professional women's golf on a 12" black and white tv. *Yawn*

ok, it is true that dallas vs. phoenix would have raked in big bucks. but what a dumb ass to get mad over it. He'd rather make money than see a underdog team win. Im glad the warriors won, now Detroit doesn't have to worry about seeing them in the finals [IMG]. Seems like GS is the only team that can beat Dallas consistently, somehow... And wtf does "the best team was suppsoed to win" mean? Isn't that WHAT happened. I guess we now know the NBA isnt fixed, or do they only FIX it when it's important? lol

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Less than 12 hours before Golden State eliminated 67-win Dallas on Thursday night, Suns coach Mike D'Antoni had predicted a Warriors win in Game 6.

"After a couple weeks ago when we played (the Warriors) and they had us down by 40, I wasn't too shocked," D'Antoni said Friday.

Matchups helped determine the series, but D'Antoni chided anyone who called it a fluke.

"You have to think that between Golden State and Dallas, the best team won," D'Antoni said. </div>

Eh, I am sure Stern has no problem with the series. After all, he probably had hard time stop giggling when he saw Cuban's face in TV...

You guys are blowing things out of proportion. The best team was suppose to win, 67-15 or 42-40 <--- Whos the best team? Thats exactly what he meant when he said that. You guys are mixing that up with him saying "The better team was suppose to win" To me there is a difference. I'm sure Stern loves ratings to be high, but I doubt that hes pouting right now cause Golden State won.

I prefer a series where unexpected teams make it. It makes a better storyline.
