<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Golden State's Jason Richardson was fined $35,000 by the NBA on Thursday for improper interaction with a fan during a playoff game in Dallas. Richardson had a heated verbal exchange with the fan after missing a shot and falling out of bounds with 21.9 seconds left in the Warriors' 118-112 loss in Game 5 of the first-round series. The fan, who filed a complaint with NBA security, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he tried to help Richardson up after he fell out of bounds. Crockett Gambrel, 28, of Dallas told the paper that Richardson swore at him and then hit him. "I don't think I said much. I was star-struck that an NBA player fell into me. Then he assaulted me," Gambrel told the paper. "It's a punch or a shove. Either way, he was way out of line." Richardson talked with reporters about the incident at the Warriors' morning shootaround before the fine was issued. "I don't even know what happened, to be honest with you," Richardson said. "It was such a tense moment in the game where I think we were down one or up one, whatever the situation was. "I don't even worry about that. I was just trying to get back [down the court]. I don't really know what happened. I don't think anybody knows what happened. I don't even know if the fan knows what happened." When asked directly if he hit Gambrel, Richardson said he's not a violent person and would not punch a fan.</div> Source: ESPN
Weird. Doesn't sound like they ever got to the bottom of it and just came up with the fine because they couldn't think of what else to do. Oh well, at least no suspension!
LOL, he was "star-struck that an NBA-player fell onto [him]"? Then he says Jason Richardson "swore at him and then hit him". If anything Jason Richardson probably swore at himself for missing the shot. Jason Richardson does have a record of being accused of assaulting a girlfriend I think, which I don't recall how that case came out. But overall Jason Richardson is a genuinely nice guy, and I believe him in what he says. It doesn't even appear that the fans even knows what happened, if he says he was "star-struck" late in the 4th because a NBA player fell on his lap, or out-of-bounds in front of him (or I really wish I had a video to see what happened exactly...). Does the guy even say what kind of injury he got from Jason? I am not into law and technical court-terms but don't you need some type of injury, bruise, or scar to call something assault (at least physical assault)? I agree with Wild Child and HiRez. At least $35,000 isn't much for JRich. I need to see what happened, hopefully they have something close to it on youtube, hah.

Richardson == class act. Although I desire much more versatility from him as a guard, he's a player I wouldn't want the Warriors to trade away. Plus, his hazing pranks on rookies are hilarious.

He should be fined $35,000 anytime he misses an important free throw or fails to even knock down 1 of 2. If Biedrins, a 50 something % free throw shooter, can knock down two with that ugly shot of his, then Pietrus or Jrich should be able to knock down two. Pietrus and Jrich have the range to knock those shots down, Biedrins doesn't. How come Putrid and Jmiss are such headcases that they miss all two of them while just standing there? Do they need to jump when they shoot? Underhand it? I know the Warriors aren't supposed to make it this far and would probably get clobbered by either the Spurs or the Suns, but the Warriors are upsetting whenever they just shoot themselves in the foot like this. If they sat Pietrus down for Ellis to go in, he'd probably miss them too btw. Only closest to sure thing is Cabbages (Sarunas J.).
