<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">According to the New York Post, Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy is leaving the profession for the foreseeable future, and his decision has nothing to do with last night's Game 7 103-99 playoff elimination home loss to the Jazz.

Post writer Peter Vecsey, citing an impeccable source, says Van Gundy's mind has been made up for weeks, if not months, to distance himself from the stress of the sidelines regardless of whether Houston got bumped early on or took the season to the championship limit.

As evidenced by how the Jazz beat their opponents to countless rebounds and loose balls, Houston is desperate for livelier bodies and a more "athletically inclined" coach.

In fact, Vecsey writes, a source reveals Alexander's emissaries already have spoken to at least one targeted replacement.</div>

That's one thing I never liked about Van Gundy - when the going got tough, he got going.

Wow. I didn't see this coming. I thought management would want him back, but he did hand pick this roster, and did decide to leave a few question marks off the rotation.

[IMG] Now that I'm not in denial about the loss anymore, I feel sad. It's going to be especially hard watching the rest of the playoffs without stressing about the Rockets. We blew our best chance.

At least I can study for finals now. I am going back to my workout every other day schedule for the rest of the summer.

I heard ya man, if we only won that last game, we would have made it far adn this season (as one of the commentators said) would have been a success. However, Tmac didnt have the fire in him to win.

Man. I am so mad now. I loved Van Gundy and his defense after Tomjanovich left. First Rockets lose in the first round again! Then, Tmac don't get past first round again! Now, Van Gundy leaves!!

Who do we take now? Larry Brown maybe?

Brown, Adleman,Carlisle, etc. are all on the market

First off I'd like to say that I appreciate what Jeff did here, and I appreciate the season tickets...I really had fun this year and I have a lot of memories that I will never forget, and I'll never forget his generousity...so for that I'd like to say thank you...and I sincerely mean that.

Now with that being said it is time for JVG to go. At times he's too stubborn, he's not creative offensively, and his substitution patterns are crap. Guys like Novak,Snyder,Lucas, etc. should've been regular rotation guys throughout the whole season....I honestly felt that we had enough talent to not only beat Utah, but to get out the first round.....Jeff needs to go and then other changes will come after that.

When you only have two players that can rise and dunk over somebody, its not that hard to believe the Rockets lost.

Same problem for the last 3 yrs. Not fast, tall or athletic enough.

Get RUDY T back and bring Jerry West for some kind of position.

^Rudy T. was overrated. He was still a good coach, he knew how to keep our guys motivated, but he is not the answer. I like the idea of Jerry West.

Management holding out to see if we can get anyone better? Maybe they are trying to convince the rest of the teams that it was JVG who really walked out?

Why would he just walk out after hand picking this roster?

    Carlisle - In the mid
Adelman - High risk, high reward
    Brown - Safest pick
Some(no)body that presents himself and his coaching philosophies well

What are you talking about? T-mac and Yao had it. Its just that the rest of the team didn't. I'm sorry but I wouldn't mind another coach. As much as JVG is a winner and a great defensive coach, his offense is just plain terrible. If you look at other teams on the rise say Chicago, they really move the ball around in almost all possesions. Our offense focuses to much on jumpshooting and the only real post scoring we have is Yao. Chuck can score in the post, but it would require T-mac's help. I wouldn't mind Rick Carlisle.

I'm tired of this team building up our expectations, for us to go up 2-0 once again and to think that we learned our lesson, we still go down. I'm tired of being a fan only to be dissapointed. I didn't think we'd make the finals or something, but I expected so much more from this team. Maybe I just haven't accepted this defeat yet so I'm still bitter. I don't know.

Come to think of it, I wish JVG didn't have to go, that he just be more open minded and start being more creative on offense. Can't a man change, can't a coach change? lol I just can't imagine another coach for us in the sidelines. I've been so used to JVG that it would just be plain weird to see someone like Adelman or something coaching our guys.

^I very much agree with that. If he could just find a way to integrate slashers, and players who can creat their own offense, he would be flawless. Why is that so hard?

I just don't see it happening though. His system is...well...it is what it is. I don't want to say it's outdated, because I like that style of basketball.
