Toronto Star: "Brian Shaw... Lakers assistant likely to get a sniff if Orlando job opens since he's got history with the Magic." Source: http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/211500 I like Brian Shaw he often calms down players when they are angry at Phil Jackson such as Brian Cook and Andrew Bynum. He is considered a friend to the players and it will be a loss to the Laker organization if he is the head coach of the magic.
Damn. I love Brian Shaw. I was hoping he would stay on the bench and take over as a head coach when Phil Jackson steps down. Sort of like Don Nelson and Avery Johnson in Dallas.
Brian Shaw has all the makings of being a successful headcoach, but I think he needs another year. Right now he's still behind Kurt Rambis on the Laker coaching hierarcy, and doesn't have any headcoaching experience. I would think Rambis would get a job in the league ahead of Shaw because he has some coaching experience GM's and owners can base results off of. Orlando is a great situation with Dwight Howard in place.
