starting QB Matt Schaub this year... I know Vick is this n that, but I think they need to let the pre season decide on who should start instead of giving the nod to Vick prematurely. Schaub has all the tools and now he has experience. Vick must prove he can pass accurately.

Schaub won't start. Why? 2 words. Marketing & merchandising.

IMO Schaub should try and get traded, Vick is going to start in Atlanta unless he gets injured.

If the Falcons organization didn't expect or want Vick to play football in Atlanta they wouldn't have given him the contract they gave him. You don't give a guy that kind of money and then tell him to sit on the bench when he's healthy and ready to go. With that being said, there is no way Vick doesn't start at QB for the Falcons this season unless there's an injury. IMO Schaub will be traded eventually anyway.

Schaub won't get traded or they would've taken the 2nd round pick Minnesota offered for him (rumor)

Schaub has 2 years left on his deal I believe. He'll get starters money from someone when it expires.

I wouldn't mind Green Bay going after him especially if Aaron Rodgers doesn't pan out. He's a perfect fit for McCarthy's offense.

I believe this is last year of his contract, and he is RFA after season. I might be wrong on this, dont hold me to that

I think BF1 is correct in regards to Schaub's contract. I'm pretty sure that he signed a 3-year deal in July of 2004, so it's very possible that Schaub could be out of Atlanta after this season is finished.

With Vicks injury record I don't see how the Falcons can afford to let him go. At least now if Vick goes down they're not automatically out of it

Yeah, but the question is, who would give up a pick (third at least/first at most) for Schaub? Because I doubt the Falcons would deal him that easily.

If they tender him the highest tender, it is a 1st and a 3rd. No one is going to pay that for schaub. The tender isnt that high either, so he is probably there for another season

I'm sure it won't happen, but imagine if they chose to franchise tag their backup QB? lol

You would hope the 12 million or so salary would prevent that.

Dallas tried to get Schaub too. Falcons said no. Given the deals they were being offered, I would say Atlanta is set to make a decision after this year whether to offer Schaub the big money to start or not. Times a tickin'

If the falcons want to think about going to the SB they need to think about playing a two QB system, because in the playoffs when you go up against super fast defenses like the panthers, bucs, bears, redskins vick will get shut down. As long as you have one super fast LB like Thomas Davis, Vick will get shut down.

How long before Atlanta gives up on Vick? Will they ever just give up on him?

    He's essentially Kordell Stewart 2.0.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if one of their WRs request to leave like Peerless Price did because Vick wouldn't throw him the ball.

They'll keep WR's on the roster just for deception and laughs. I'd be worried if I were a RB on Atl's roster.
