I had a thought following the Raptors loss to the Nets; "What if they had drafted Danny Granger instead of Joey Graham and Andrea Iguodala instead of that big Brazillian 'Hoffa'?"** I know this is a fantasy setting but I think if all other things stayed equal the Raptors would have won the Nets series and made it past the Cavs. Just a random thought to keep me going until the next bit of real news.**Any Comments? Other "What if" scenarios?
How do you know if we would have played the Nets? It would change many things. Would we still have Andrea Bargnani, Rob Babcock would probably still be the GM, we wouldnt have Parker or Garbo, etc.
thats a good question and would iguodala try to take over the team be the leader, what would happen to bosh. And danny granger might become a starter so no garbo or rasho. and what if they still didnt make the playoofs. Probably woulfnt of drafter charlie v with granger meaning no pg. making a possible trade with iggy or granger. I just think it wouldnt be the same if u just switched those players.
Hoffa was a horrible pick, I don't care what anyone says. The fact that they traded him after 1 season shows his inability to score.

I think if we draft Iggy Babcock is still our GM right now and the team looks 100% different. Also, we'd probably be 50% less cynical. Funny how the guy who forced us to hire Babcock (Jack Mclosky) is the person who screwed him the most by insisting we pick Hoffa.
I know that as soon as you change one thing other things change. I did add the disclaimer of "all other things staying equal" but I know that's not possible. Just a random thought. Those two guys on the team we've got now minus Joey and Hump would be incredibly dynamic. Still, great year and good team. One point about Iggy, I think that he'd have no problem playing with Bosh or anyone else for that matter. He seems to be a pro in the sense that he does what is asked of him to the best of his ability. It's unfortunate that his ability is the type of ability the Raptors were missing against the Nets. I'm excited to see what they're going to do next and who will be wearing Red in Toronto next year. Again, this was just a silly dreamscape question and not meant to be anything more. Thanks for those of you who played along and didn't take it too seriously.
Igoudala played with AI and Chris Webber.. Come on, if he can play with those two guys, he can play with anyone. Even if we drafted Granger and Igoudala, i still see Toronto getting all their players. Garbo, Parker, Rasho and Andrea. The players we wouldn't have would be Dixon, Jackson.
I really wanted the Raptors to draft Danny Granger that year and, even though Joey Graham wasn't a terrible pick, picking him over Granger was a mistake. There's no doubt that we had a hard time finding consistency at the swingman position during the playoffs. Granger or Iguodala would definitely have helped, but its not something that's on my mind as much as it used to be. We have a solid core and I honestly think that small forward is the easiest position to fill. This offseason, we do need to acquire a 3 that can get his own shot and penetrate. Also, I'd choose Bargnani over Iguodala or Granger any day of the week.
If the Raptors signed Iggy, the Raptors would have made the playoffs every single year. Iggy is a solid dunker and, most importantly, he has the ability to draw fans (on an easle, with charcoal).
The Raptors wouldn't have acquired Garbajosa nor Anthony Parker if Toronto had these two younger players. I think the Raptors would've hovered around mediocrity as well, but would be brimming with potential.
<div class="quote_poster">MrJ Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I think a better question is: Do Raptor fans prefer Andre Iguodala or Danny Granger over Bargnani?</div> hmm, never rly thought about it that way. but yes, i would rather have igoudala iggys a triple double threat every time he steps on the court. I think bargnani could be a great scorer but he doesnt rebound at all
