Well after watching game 3 Im dissapointed in the coaching desisions by Scott Skiles. His second half rotation was just totally illogical. Now the question I pose is why did PJ brown basically play the whole second half? Hes a 37 year old man and can only play so many minutes productivly. Secondly Why the Hell didnt tyrus and Thabo get more playing time? The time to put those guys in was when we had the 15 point lead, those guys played great when they were in the game. why not sick with them for a little while. We went with a 6 man rotation basically the whole second half, with Noch coming in off the bench for whomever. Im disapointed with skiles in this one. he doesnt have the whole blame but I give him 65% of it. If you think your gonna need PJ brown at the end why not give him rest eary in the half? Then with 30 second left he finnaly put Ty and thabo in which made me go insane. I know im emotional right now but I fell right now that Skiles has been in chicago long enough. He did a great job to get us to this point but maybe hes not the guy that can take us to the next level. I will elaborate tomorrow feeel free to voice your opinion on the rotations.
He's very stubborn. I don't know if we should change coaches, that always seems to onset some instability, and I think we're not far from contending for a championship, just a few pieces away IMO. Him and Pax sorta shaped the attitude of this team, and I think we may just have to deal with his stubborn rotations because he's Pax's guy.
He just said in a press confrence. "I thought Id put my best 7 against their best7." WTF? thats not our game we havent had a 6-7 man rotation all Year! Get Ty in the Damn game!! Get Thabo in the MFn game. Noch was OC he costed us this game also. "I didnt play thabo and Ty because I wanted to see if our top guys could do it by their selves" WTF? This isnt a damn experiment. sick to what got you the damn lead. I cant belive the Quotes from Skiles. FREE TYRUS THOMAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i really dont think Skiles likes Thomas. I dont know how true this is but i read Skiles wanted Bargnani and Paxson choice Thomas at the last minute. This is y he doesnt get much minutes nor does he like Gordon. Thomas is getting less minutes during the playoffs than hes getting during the regular season. Im not upset at the Bulls like im reading from a lot of posters on a different Bulls forums but the Bulls just need that post-player like we all know and it will b very hard 4 teams 2 beat us because 2 me zone is really y a lot of team beat us. About Skiles sometimes i like his coaching and sometimes i dont. It seems like he really tried 2 make better coaching decisions against Miami than he is now. I really believe if we didnt beat Miami, Skiles would have been fired. A lot of people disagree with me because Paxson and Skiles r good friends but sometimes friendship doesnt always mean ull keep the job. Now that we got past the first round its seems like who cares about the rest of the season. Well good job Pistons on ur first 3 games against us. Go Bulls!!!!!!!!!
I don't know if a lot of coaches would have used their rookies in that situation. Coaches are a very stingey group of people and they go with what sounds right "proven players are better than rookies". I can't really blame him and I'm not saying he hasn't made mistakes. If we're complaining about Skiles in this thread here's my beef: His inbound plays when there's little time left are terrible and yes his rotations are some what questionable. Also, I could see him not liking Gordon. He's not your typical basketball player. He's listed at 6'3 but I've heard commentars say he's pushing 6'0. Most importantly his ball handling skills, passing, and lay-ups are sometimes retarded...but in his defense those retarded lay-ups, when they go down, are friggin sweet.
I was peeved off with his 2nd half rotations as well. I thought at the point when BG had 3 fouls we need to get him out, he simply wasn't being effective at that point. Give him a rest and bring him back for the 4th. Use Thabo to defend the lead
It's not his fault that Gordon, Hinrich, or Deng haven't done anything in the series. And Tyrus was missing easy lay-ups anyways, while P.J. was actually hitting his jump shot for the first time in this series. And Sefolosha needs to learn how to hit a freakin free throw. The only thing I put on Skiles is that all year the Bulls have gotten killed by a zone, and they still can't do anything against it. But, it's mostly on the players because they haven't done anything. And maybe things that we don't know about that isn't public.
If I were Skiles I'd try a few new things. Like try Thabo defending Billups when Gordon goes out. Something like Scottie Pippen defending Mark Jackson in the playoffs around 10 years ago. It would be interesting to see how that worked out. We all know Billups is the one getting his team back in the ball game. Use Thabo's length and athleticism to make him work on every possession. If it works we could use it next year.
My only problem with Scott Skiles is that at times he is too proud to admit his mistakes. He is the type of guy, who would go to battle with a certain strategy, and watch each of his soldiers die, before he would even consider taking a different approach. To his credit, over the last three years, his strategy has been good enough to get us to the playoffs, and make us into one of the best defense squads in the league. I don't think he should be fired. We are a perimeter squad, there for when the Pistons go to the zone we are bound to struggle because it takes away the jump shot. I don't think any coach could do a better job coaching this team right now.
<div class="quote_poster">I-Miss-MJ Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">How come teams don't play zone against us for 4 quarters when we are not very good against it?</div> A zone is only affective until a team figures out how to beat it. It takes away the jumper but leaves open paths to the basket. The Bulls struggle to recognize zone, but when they do they can beat it. Today when the Pistons went zone early the Bulls recognized what zone defense it was and were able to score against it, but later in the game when the Pistons played a different zone defense, we struggled. A zone has gaps and openings in it, its just a matter of finding them. (That post sounded incredible redundant, but I hope I was able to explain it somewhat)
see skiles made my adjustments and look what happened. the bulls have won their last 2! great adjustments skiles. too bad I saw what needed to be done befor you!!! Go Bulls!!!
