bad acting is pretty self explanatory, it is not portraying your character correctly, not using the right amount of emotion and feeling in your act and in your expressions and actions. i cant really think of any bad actors right now, but there are plenty. a good actor that i can think of from the top of my head is johnny depp, in every one of his films he does a spectacular job at becoming his character, using the right timing, expressions, actions etc. i think any actor who does a movie like american pie or some stupid crap like that, is a bad actor, yes they may do a good job of their character, but how hard is it really to play that kind of role, theyre probably already a bit like the character themselves, all they have to do is say the lines like they would normally to someone theyre speaking to, no skill in that.

Nicolas Cage? He's always been a good actor I've thought.

    Paul Walker just plain sucks.

hold the phones! Now I hate vin diesel(if thats his real name), but if you have ever watched his older work like when he was in boiler room(amazing movie) he did a pretty good job. Pitch black was decent enough for me to like it, and vin played his role perfect in fast and furious. I think its his movie roles that took his acting into a hole. XXX was horrible.. i mean he grinds on a meat plate lol. All in all he still can act he just needs to find a new agent.

Speaking of XXX, you'll really learn what bad acting is if you watch some of those... [IMG]

    Schwarzenegger
    The Rock
    Keanu Reeves

    are all terrible actors.
and don't say "keanu was good in the Matrix" - any fool can act well in a movie like that - a real test of an actor is a simple scene with some emotional content and i've seen Keanu really screw those up pretty much every time.
Ryan Phillipe is pretty bad also.

Tom Cruise has had some bad performances. So has Richard Gere.
Balthazer Getty is horrible. Tony Goldwyn. Howie Long. THere's a reason why those guys got one lead role and then disappeared. Vincent D'Onofrio - good in Full Metal Jacket but in The Cell he was laughably bad.
Matthew McConaughey is a bad actor too.
Jennifer Lopez used to be bad but she has figured out what her "thing" is.

Most soap opera actors are awful too.

Ben Affleck is actually a good actor - he just annoys me as a person.
Vin Diesel in Boiler Room - while he wasn't bad, I wouldn't put it up there with the great performances of our time.

Matthew McConaughey is also an ugly MFer. He looks terribly old. I can't stand when chicks say he's attractive, but yes...bad actor.

I didn't mind the Rock in the Rundown, other than that...he's horrible. I concur [IMG])

I'm really not a movie guy, but I've always thought he was one of the best actors out there. The only movies I've ever seen him in are Donnie Darko and The Good Girl, so I don't have as much of a frame of reference, but would you say his performance in those two movies was bad as well?

dude, Nic Cage is not technically a very good actor, but he's cool. Him in Face/Off is a role I've always really liked, and he's good in some other films too. I agree he's no Academy Award candidate, but he'll always be cool in my book.

I can't stand Jamie Foxx or Rob Schneider

Halle Berry, John Travolta, and Sharon Stone all have had some good performances IMO but are generally overrated. I wouldn't say they're horrible but other than that the list is right on the money.

Word, theres f*cking terrible actors, and then theres Paul Walker. I did enjoy Running Scared quite a bit though even despite his terrible acting.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Vin Diesel</div>

I like him in certain roles (Pitch Black/Chronicles of Riddick, A Man Apart) but hes terrible in other roles (XXX, Fast and Furious, etc.). Hes better when he talks less.

Also I gotta add Tobe McGuire and the guy who played Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars Episode 2 and 3 as the most wooden actors. Complete apathy and it just makes me uncomfortable seeing them try to display emotion.

Jaimie Foxx? I like his movies other than Stealth. Ray was great and Collateral was a good movie too. Halle Berry has also had some good movies too. Forget about the Catwoman thing lol.

I agree about Affleck though, I don't like any of his movies.

I take it as a personal insult when someone says Nicolas Cage is a bad actor.

Please, give me a list of quality actors so I can see what it is that seperates Cage from the greats in your book.
