<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Shaquille O'Neal was a guest analyst on TNT's Inside the NBA on Monday night and answered questions from the other hosts during a special feature for NBA.com. When asked what player (other than Hardaway, Bryant or Wade) he would like to have playing next to him, the Heat center didn't hesitate: "Vince". Noting he was expressing a personal opinion, O'Neal said of Carter: "I think he needs a player like me that can get him to the next level." Is it tampering?</div> Source That's funny, if Kidd can't do it, what makes Shaq think he can?
Lol, that's just Shaq being Shaq. But I think a big man could really help take alot of the pressure off Vince. Kidd, RJ, and Moore are good, but a big man who could score in the post would be much better.
Pressure off Vince? That's hilarious. He's supposed to be a "superstar" who takes on that pressure, and doesn't shy away from it. I can't remember seeing him do it once in the playoffs. I only see the role player Vince.

He plays at the superstar level when he is in attack mode instead of jump shooting mode.
<div class="quote_poster">Mercury Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Source That's funny, if Kidd can't do it, what makes Shaq think he can?</div> Kidd does not draw double teams regularly, that will leave VC wide open for jump shots. Not to mention he would also have Wade taking pressure off him. I think Carter would have a career year playing with the Heat. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Pressure off Vince? That's hilarious. </div> It might be hilarious to you, but the fact of the matter is its true. In Miami he wouldn't have to be the superstar, Vince seems to be more comfortable as a secondary option on a team anyway (the offense in Jersey is run through Kidd), and in Miami he could play that role.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In Miami he wouldn't have to be the superstar</div> He's hasn't been a superstar in a while, so yeah. Being that Vince is a role player, he might fit in Miami.

He is a star, but he performs better as the second star on a team, as opposed to the main option (ex. Marion in Phoenix). I do think Carter has lost a little bit off his game, when you compare him to the vintage "Air Canada" version of Vince. However, he is far more than a role player (role players are guys like Haslem, Moore, Bowen, etc). I would never call an all star a role player.

There are countless games, where he would sink down to a role player status. He isn't worth 13-15 million dollars a year either.

Which is why I took the super out and just called him a star he is still a top tier player in this league. With the way contracts have been handed out these past few off-seasons with guys like Curry and others making in excess of 10 million dollars a year, Vince is worth whatever someone is willing to pay him (likely over 10 million a year).

He has become a better defender from his earlier years also. I still think that a jump shooting Vince Carter is an all star type of player. When he isn't shooting the ball well he sets up his teammates and gets them easy shots. His passing is severely underrated, and so his is rebounding. He is one of the better rebounding shooting guards in the league.

He's going to get a lot of money anyway, hopefully not from the Nets. Anyway I'm looking for a sign-and-trade. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Vince is still a superstar, when he wants to be.</div> Wow, that's definitely comforting. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I still think that a jump shooting Vince Carter is an all star type of player.</div> Yep 8-23 is all star talent. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">When he isn't shooting the ball well he sets up his teammates and gets them easy shots.</div> We have Kidd for that, his job is supposed to be shooting.

VC's problem is that he never improved his ball handling ability and created more counter moves. The scouts know his moves he has a simple crossover and his spectacular ability to spin( whether on the ground or in air). now the whole league know what to do with him and so he settles for the jumpshot ALOT! Hes never been an extra speedy player (meaning footspeed from 1 basket to the other) he used his quickness to get past people (fast jabsteps/crossovers). IMO his game was better when he was a rookie than it is today. Because when he came into the league he knew what he was good at and did that. Today hes really indecisive. alot of times just holding the ball in the tripple threat position for up to 10 second at a time.
Vince is no role player. The problem is that he can't handle being the number 1 guy. He won't fit it with the Heat, simply because he won't accept a secondary role. And he will definitely not play second fiddle to Wade. Although we have seen Cater step behind Kidd during the playoffs, it is only because of the respect he has for Kidd. I wouldn't count on him to do so for another player anytime soon. If Vince does choose to opt out, he will be in a team where he will be the first option.
<div class="quote_poster">Kidd Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">That's funny, if Kidd can't do it, what makes Shaq think he can?</div> Because Shaq has an excellent track record playing with a star 2 guard, Penny Hardaway, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade for each of his respective teams.

Well from what I've seen Vince and Shaq are pretty good friends. I also think playing with Shaq would be better for Vince than playing with a guard like Kidd. For a 2 guard it is always a huge boost to play with a dominant post player. If we can get Vince that'd be amazing but I doubt it. I also think Vince will defer to Wade. VC is at the point in his career where he wants to solitify his legacy with an NBA Title. I think If Miami were to get him, we would be the favorites in the East agian. Kidd, why are you being so hard on VC? He's an All Star talent and NJ definately wouldn't be a playoff team without him. Yeah it's Kidd's job to get assists but he can't do it all alone. VC had an off night and made up for his with his passing last night. That's something he's done incredibly well this series against Clevland.
