Tim Kawakami, columnist from the San Jose Mercury News, writes of the possibility of the Magic signing and trading forward Darko Milicic this summer to the Golden State Warriors for shooting guard Jason Richardson:

"I've been told by one NBA source that the Warriors would be strong contenders for Milicic if they offered Richardson, since Orlando General Manager Otis Smith was a Warriors executive when Richardson was drafted and remains fond of him.

Chris (Mullin), if you need to trade Richardson to get a big player, would you do it?

'No,' Mullin said recently. 'I mean... no.' "

Otis Smith would have a gigantic riot in his front yard if he did this deal.

The last part of your quote seemed to have shut that rumour down, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I would NEVER do that if I were golden state. I know Darko has potential, but this is Jrich here. Orlando better throw in some picks, and some bench players to.

If I'm GM, I'm not giving up Darko for Jrich. Darko is the PERFECT complement to Dwight. As a Magic fan spending the last 10 years looking for 1 good big guy(since Shaq), we finally not only have 1, but we have 2 guys that could be potentially the best PF/C duo in the NBA THAT ARE BOTH ONLY 21 YEARS OLD! You do not give up a 21 year old 7 footer as talented and as perfect of a complement to Dwight. Darko is the outside threat that is a great passer while being a very good defender compared to Dwight's dominating post play and on the glass. Then you consider J Rich missed 31 games last year and I politely reject.

Plus you don't trade small, unless we get an absolutely proven player such as Ray Allen.

Darko for Jrich would be stupid enough for Orlando, why the hell would we throw in picks? I'd give you 2-3 out of Arroyo, Garrity, Battie, and Bogans if you really want any of them.

Bad trade for both teams here.
