Okay recently I've seen a lot people on here implying that liking a team like Phoenix or Golden State (because they score a lot and create a lot of fancy highlights for ESPN), while disliking a team like the Spurs (because they are to put it simple...boring) is somehow wrong. I just don't get this one man. I mean I can't help it, but watching Utah and S.A. will put me to sleep. I remember the days when players could actually hit an open jump shot and teams scored over a hundred with regularity, now it's like some people frown on it like there's something wrong with wanting to score or be *take a deep breath* "flashy." While it may be effective (because they have 3 titles) the Spurs are by no means fun to watch. Neither are the Jazz. (no offense to either one of those organizations or their fans) Could it be a lack of "superstars"???...well yes that could be part of it, but the main reason is that both teams are just a flat out bore to watch. I'm sorry, but seeing a good pick set while a teammate runs backdoor to receive a two handed "chest" bounce pass... only to lay it in nice off the glass (because dunking isn't fundamental) all while picking the wedgy from their butt cheeks because their 1960 nut huggers are too tight, while giving their teammates high fives with both hands up top just doesn't tickle my fancy. I love watching people get crossed over, dunked on, and bewildered from teams throwing behind the back passes....I just do. I love seeing superstars make superstar plays. I love to see teams that actually try "pushing" the ball instead of slowing it down on every possesion and not waiting until the shot clock says "0" to take a shot. I love bright uniforms and not colors of grey and black...I just do. If that makes me "Not a true basketball fan" then so be it...I love basketball because when it's at it's best I truely do believe it can be fun for everyone to watch. End rant.
Like it or not, the type of ball the Spurs, Jazz and Detroit plays is the type of ball that wins playoff games. I agree that it's not too fun to watch (unless there is a lot of ball movement, team play and unselfishness), but teams want to win first and foremost. What seem to have become the trend, playing small and up-tempo, isn't winning any post season games. The Suns popularized it, but they haven't done squat in terms of playoff achievements. Another reason why small ball isn't working is that defending fast breaks isn't as "easy" as stopping half court play, so the smart teams focus on stopping breaks before they begin, and that slows the game down. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I love watching people get crossed over, dunked on, and bewildered from teams throwing behind the back passes....I just do. Can you get over the fact the suns lost holly crap its so annoying people still whining about it. Honestly... If you dont wanna watch dont watch.

If you don't want to hear him voice his opinion, don't click on this thread.
The Jazz are my favorite team to watch. Maybe it's cause I grew up watching them, I don't know. But to say you like watching the Suns and Warriors, I don't see how the hell you can't like watching Deron Williams. The Jazz outplayed Warriors in both the half court, and the full court. Not to mention Boozer and AK have been outstanding these playoffs. I CANNOT wait till Sunday.
^^well you're a jazz fan so it's understandable, but as a rockets/casual basketball fan I can't say that I'm really looking forward to this series...
I will not be watching the rest of the playoffs, I have better things to do. If an exciting team was playing, I'd work my sked around it, but these conference finals feature the 4 most boring teams in the league. Congrats to the Spurs though on their upcoming "championship" if they do win. Its to the point where I'd rather watch hockey than NBA basketball these days.
I actually don't think the Jazz are that boring to watch. They've got some exciting players in Deron Williams, and Carlos Boozer has been playing fantastic basketball. I will always root for my man Derek Fisher, and guys like AK47 can provide excitement when playing up to full potential. As for the Spurs, well, I have to say, I'm not a big fan. But they don't really bore me. They just play basketball "fundamentally," and I think if you really take the time to watch them, you'll find that they aren't THAT boring. I just hope we don't end up having a Spurs/Pistons Finals matchup, although it looks like that is exactly what will happen. I'll be rooting for the Jazz and the Cavs
I disagree..I'd rather watch the Jazz and Spurs go at it rather than the Warriors and the Suns. I can't wait for the West Finals to start. The Pistons are the most boring team out of the three, mainly because they don't move the ball more than the Jazz and the Spurs.

Seriously.
I think the Spurs and Pistons are boring but the Jazz proved they can be exciting during that Golden State series. And I would also go nuts for a Warriors-Suns run n' gun playoff series. That'd be awesome to watch.
I think Utah and San Antonio are both entertaining. I never understood why people think they're boring. Both are very good offensive teams. If you like good half court execution, you like these teams. You know what's a boring team to watch? The Cleveland Cavaliers.
<div class="quote_poster">durvasa Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> You know what's a boring team to watch? The Cleveland Cavaliers.</div> Exactly what I was thinking. Whenever I watch the Cavs, I get this feeling that they're just a group of players put together with no meaning. I don't really think they have much of an identity. They're loaded with pieces, but for some reason, I've always felt those pieces never fit together. Guys like Larry Hughes, Damon Jones, Eric Snow, Donyell Marshall, and Scott Pollard all seem to be thrown randomly into the mix. Btw, Big Z is more bland than Tim Duncan
I didn't even watch detroit and chi town the other night, instead I elected to end my year and half drought of not playing basketball......I'm still sore today
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I never understood why people think they're boring</div> well it's not like I'm watching the bobcats and hawks play, but neither one of those teams screams "exciting" to me...
