<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">With three NBA championship flags high above the court, and many of the key players from those title teams in the lineup, the San Antonio Spurs opened the Western Conference finals like a team ready to add to their collection. Well, for most of Game 1. Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker were terrific for three quarters, then good enough at the end to carry San Antonio to a 108-100 victory over the upstart Utah Jazz on Sunday. Playing only 39 hours after ending a rough and tumble series with Phoenix and facing a team they could've taken lightly, the Spurs zoomed to a 19-point lead before halftime and were still ahead by 18 early in the fourth quarter. Then a combination of fatigue and Utah's Deron Williams turned things interesting in the final minutes. Although the Jazz never got closer than seven points, and lost for the 17th straight time in San Antonio, Utah's late rally certainly got the Spurs' attention, as did Williams' career-high 34 points. </div> http://www.sportsline.com/nba/gamecenter/r...20070520_UTA@SA Manu Ginobili was very good, he racked up a bunch of assists. The Spurs were really hitting shots in the 2nd quarter, and if they can get offense like they did today, it'll be tough for the Jazz to win this series.
Spurs played well, but I still think the jazz will win it. They are coming into their own, and well find a way to stop Duncan, Manu and parker.
Jazz will not win it. Duncan is not going to be stopped. Its like people wnat the spurs to lose. funny you should mention that utah will stop parker, ginobili and duncan. lol NO WAY maybe they can stop one or the other but not all three. do you even wathch the games? duncan is the best plaer remaining in the playoffs and will not be stopped.

facts. okay lets see people said he would have problems with the denver nuggets defense of camby and or nene, then same thing with phoenix. people started acting like thomas was some great defender, yet he is on a 20 point 10 rebound streak and is averaging 25 plus points in the playoffs. the real mvp has shown up. he can not be stopped.
I predicted Jazz in 6, and I'm sticking with it. I agree that Duncan won't be stopped. I think Ginobili and Parker are another matter.
I predict the Spurs will win but only because the NBA won't let them lose. Stern always finds a way to protect his boys from losing.
I don't care for either team so no bias. I can't see Utah beating the Spurs. The only teams that I feel that could beat the Spurs was either Dallas or Phoenix. Well I mean had a chance.
<div class="quote_poster">XSV Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I predict the Spurs will win but only because the NBA won't let them lose. Stern always finds a way to protect his boys from losing.</div> So i guess stern scores the points for the spurs?
<div class="quote_poster">XSV Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Nope but he took away over 30 from the Suns when he suspended Amare and Diaw.</div> Uh it doesn't exactly work like that. Kurt Thomas had about 15 and 12 when Amare was out (and Marion was able to get more boards and points then usual). You don't just add 30 points to the final result. Plus, Amare exploded in Game six and the Spurs still won (with PHX actually getting slightly more FTs before they started fouling intentionally).
^ Well thanks Captain Obvious, but you know what I mean. With Amare and Diaw AT HOME, the Suns would have taken it, and you can't just say that the Suns lost even with Amare because the game was in SA and the momentum had already turned. The Suns lost game 5 because they played 7 guys and they ran out of gas, that wouldn't have happened if they had Amare and Diaw. Or we can look at it that if Duncan had been suspended (as he should have been) the Suns would have destroyed the Spurs. But instead, the Spurs took the momentum and were able to finish Phoenix off at home. I know you don't like the Suns because they knock out your boy every year and Nash has 2 MVP's to his 0, but if you actually look at this scenario unbiasedly, you would agree with me.

I've stated the Suns got somewhat screwed so what? Is Nash really the MVP any of the last three years? Duncan (and others) has (have) continued to play much better than Nash and Tim isn't "my boy". I don't need one of my "boys" to outduel Nash (that said, were the Lakers ever favored to win a series like Nash has been TWICE already against the Spurs?).
^ I really feel bad for you because living in SA almost guarantees that you have to cheer for a boring, classless organization like the Spurs. No really though, enjoy your "championship."
<div class="quote_poster">XSV Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">^ I really feel bad for you because living in SA almost guarantees that you have to cheer for a boring, classless organization like the Spurs. No really though, enjoy your "championship."</div> Classless organization? Why should they be considered classless in general? I think people were quick to label the Spurs as boring. I don't see what's so boring about Manu or Parker (Duncan might be boring but how are other 4's or 5's more exciting?). Winning Championships is always fun. In my later years I've learned to appreciate the fundamentals. I don't see why the Spurs have to abandon a style of play that has won them so many games for a one-dimensional run-and-gun philosophy.
ok xsv no facts. just one play and you consider them classless? wow. did you see amare congragulte the spurs after their game 6 victory? no because he ran to the locker room. and they call up classless. funny. which fans were throwing water bottles? which team or should i say leader keeps complaining about the suspensions? nash acted like he's got his team to the finals. he's so used to losin, he has a script for what excuses to make. don't worry xsv i'll enjoy the championship just like i enjoyed the other three. still got that sour taste from 2003? its okay i understand. from time to time i still think about .04 lol. but its not that bad cause we didn't lose in the finals. just like the nets always do.
Being in SA is the best thing, the championship we know we will enjoy becuase we deserve it. i guess since your from winnepeg you have nothing to look forward too. Phoenix failed to close out because they were tired? It the playoffs deal with it. Spurs beat them and thats all there is to it, get over it.

I don't find Spurs boring at all either. I appreciate their execution on the offensive end. Ginobili is an exciting player when he drives in the lane. He can create a lot of unorthodox angles with his footwork and the flexibility in his ankles. I have no idea what he does to get his ankles to move like liquid, the only other athlete I can think of who could make those type of cuts was Eric Metcalf (Cleveland Browns). Tim Duncan is a pure basketball player. I don't like his complaining, but he makes everything look easy on the court, because so damn good at what he does. I can watch him shoot that bank shot all day long. Bruce Bowen I cannot stand. Tony Parker is another exciting player off the dribble. I love Brent Barry's game. I like Mike Finley and Big Shot Bob is another player who doesn't get enough credit.
I don't think Spurs is boring to watch. I think they are an exciting team too. Suns is an exciting team as well when they do a full court run and gun. However, when they played against the Spurs, they were forced to play half court. Nash had to run around alot with the ball all the time and look for opening. I found it 10x more boring
