But Oden isn't quit Shaq Yet.</div> Uhh where'd you get that info, he played 37 minutes against the Gators in the finals and avg 28.9 minutes a game.

I don't think we want to put too much pressure on Oden and with Roy, Jack, Alderidge, and possibly Randolph any contribution he makes scoring wise will be good. The main thing I want to se eout of him assuming Portland drafts him is hustle, Offensive and defensive rebounds, and Defense. Although I do think most Portland fans are thinking playoffs at least as an 8 seed.
Greg Oden alone could've made the Celtics a serious threat in the NBA in the next few years. This season was just a collapse with numerous of injuries, but take a look at them at top-notch. C: Greg Oden F: Al Jefferson F: Paul Pierce G: Wally Szczerbiak G: Delonte West Young guys like Rajon Rondo and Gerald Green would've led a nice bench, and that alone would've been a 50 win team in 2-4 years. If the lottery is rigged, I wouldn't see why Stern could've gave the first pick to the Celtics. That would just be 1 up for the East and kept the Blazers down for years to come, it IS the Boston Celtics, so it's marketable and Paul Pierce would finally have a threat at the title since '02.
Portland is a great place for Oden in think. They have young great players like Aldridge and Roy. He gets many minutes and improves himself, in 3-5 years the Blazers will make a strong case for a championship. Still they have to think what to do with Zach, i would trade him for good SG/SF who has like 4-5 great years to play.
<div class="quote_poster">THE DREAM Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I just don't know why people consider Oden the no brainer for the #1 pick.....Durant is truely something that we've never seen before, Oden is just another 7 footer coming out of college</div> I don't like how you said that "just another 7 footer coming out of college" is it possible to be just another 7 footer? Oden was shooting his free throws left handed I'd say thats pretty good. But I still think Dwight Howard is going to be the next dominate big man of this league.
I have looked at 4 different mock drafts, and 2 of them said that Kevin Durant will be the first overall pick. Thats pretty interesting.
It's really interesting because Oden is C, while Portland already has Zach Randolph and Lamarcus Aldridge and could really use a SF. While Durant is likely a SF and Seattle already has Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis and could really use a legit C. Honestly I think both teams would be happy to switch, but Portland wouldn't want to risk bad PR by trading down a spot to pick Oden.
The Sonics and Blazers have long been successful branches of the league. The likes of NBA-favorites Boston and NY have been given shot after shot of turning things around. But they've made stupid decisions that have pushed them further back, and I'm glad to see other teams get a shot. Portland has done a great job drafting players in the past few years and building a solid young base. Seattle has been iffy but this is their first big chance at securing a franchise icon that will draw people again.
I would rather take Durant first, IMO he is better in the long run, and now. He is so complete, it's amazing. But, both will be great, just Durant>Oden.
Players like Durant come and go without titles. Oden is the safer choice. He can be a low post threat. There's been only one team ever with no big man to win a title. (Bulls)

You have to be stupid to pass up on a extremely good talent in Oden. I understand how good Durant is, but what I am saying is that you don't see many Oden like players. Trailblazers would be dumb to pass up on Oden. Even though they have Aldridge, I say still go for Oden.

Not to insult them. People don't realize how important Rodman was to that Bulls team.

It's likely both Durant and Oden will come to West and these type of players will be stars of the league in the future. I don't see how a person can view East as being a strong conference in the future.
