So the point guards for your U.S. team this summer will be chosen from a pool including Kidd, Williams, Chauncey Billups, Kirk Hinrich and Luke Ridnour.

I can understand Williams just because he's young and talented to a certain extent, but Kirk Hinrich and Luke Ridnour over Baron?? What are these guys smoking?

Yeah, Baron was ticked when he wasn't invited. Arenas was also mad when he was cut, and that's what sparked the "I'm gonna put up 50 points on your team" thing with D'Antoni and McMillan:

"Arenas, third in the NBA averaging 28.8 points entering the game, vowed to score 50 against both the Blazers and Phoenix Suns when he was cut from the U.S. national team last summer. Suns coach Mike D'Antoni and Blazers coach Nate McMillan were assistants on the U.S. team. Arenas scored 54 against Phoenix earlier in the year, but Portland held him to nine points on 3-of-15 shooting when the teams' first met Feb. 11."

I think they don't want to look bad by asking for him to come after they declined to invite him when they were firrst assembling the squad. If they did invite him they'd just look like idiots who are only coming to Baron because they just saw what hes capable of in the POs. IIRC all of those guys were asked to play last summer so they're sticking with their players.

I think Baron wouldn't even go if invited, he'd just like to be recognized and recieve an invitation. He knows his body is too old and he needs all the time he can get in the offseason to rest and keep in shape.

i'm glad he's not playing...i'm scared he's gonna get hurt every game he plays...i'd be PISSED if he got hurt on the summer team and couldn't play the regular season

He's been lobbying for an invite for awhile. I know it must kill him to see those guys offered an opportunity and they passed him up
