Just a slow time in the year so I thought this would be a good idea to stir up some conversation. Please keep the scenario's somewhat realistic no (Miller for Kobe trades). This thread is basically to discuss your ideas for turning around the 76ers organization this off-season. The 76ers did surprising well last season when they parted ways with AI going 22-23 to finish out the season just missing the playoffs. Heading into this year there are still plenty of questions surrounding the roster that need to be answered. Will Miller still be on the team next year? How good can Iguodala be? Will Carney improve? Who will King bring in to improve the team. Here is my ideas for an ideal off season for the 76ers… NBA Draft Scenarios 1. Philadelphia 76ers trade the number 12 pick, 30th pick, along with Andre Miller to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for the number three pick, with which they select Mike Conley Jr., Ohio State. *Would also be an ideal scenario if 76ers select one either Horford or Wright at number three. 2. Philadelphia stays put on draft day and select one of the following Aci Law, Brandon Rush, Thaddeus Young, Alando Tucker (30th pick), or Josh McRoberts (my least favorite but we need a PF) in the first round. Then follows up with one of Arron Afflalo or Glen Davis in the second round. Free Agency/Trade Scenarios 1. The 76ers obtain Ron Artest at a cheap price from the Sacramento Kings. He is obviously a high risk, but a player well worth it if you can get him for an exchange of an expiring contract. 2. The 76ers, having not found a future point guard in the draft, go about executing a trade with the Orlando Magic to acquire Jameer Nelson. 3. The 76ers find someone to take on Samuel Dalembert’s ludicrous contract while still getting decent compensation in return. Ideal Roster For Next Season PG- Mike Conley Jr. SG.- Andre Iguodala SF- Ron Artest PF- Josh McRoberts C- Samuel Dalembert (doubt we actually trade him) Bench: Korver, Carney, Green, Hunter, Glen Davis….

Miller can be traded in package deals in the offseason, which is why we are waiting to trade him until now. A 3 team deal could also be worked out for the sixers to get the number 3 pick. I dont think the sixers should trade Dalembert though, unless they can get another shot blocker in return. Sammy D can play, he's just not a great offensive player, we just need a good PF that can cover up his offensive deficiances. In the draft we need to do anything and everything to acquire either Horford or Wright. Both will be very good players in the post at the next level, and that is exactly what the sixers need. Igoudala would be the perfect #2 guy to an all star PF. Its hard to make predictions about this years draft because theres so many possibilities. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The 76ers obtain Ron Artest at a cheap price from the Sacramento Kings. He would be a messed up more disgruntled/distracting/far less talented version of Iverson. This team needs to build with their youth and get a dominant big man for the future and they will be set.

He has a reasonable contract for a player of his caliber, and with his track record we could get him at a cheap price. He only has two years left on his current deal (and a player option) so basically even if he messes up its not going to be a long term commitment for us, nor does having him handcuff us financially. My only concern would be having Cheeks coach Artest. EDIT: I also wouldn't mind signing Dee Brown who is a free agent (get it done King!)
My Mock Off-Season NBA Draft Scenarios We currently have the 12th, 21st, and 30th picks in the first round, to go along with pick number 38 in the second round. That's four draft picks for the upcoming draft, and I doubt we will come into next season with 4 rookies on the roster. With that being said, I fully expect moves to be made with the draft picks, maybe trading up or trading for future picks? I would love to package Andre Miller along with the 12th and 30th to move up to the 3rd overall pick, but I'm not exactly sure if Atlanta will except. If not, I'll gladly throw in the 21st pick instead of the 30th pick for 3rd overall pick, but idealy, we get away from the trade retaining the 21st pick. With the 3rd overall pick, I'm going to use it to draft Brandan Wright, who I feel will become a great player in the future (we can hope Oden or Durant somehow magically falls to us). Mike Conley is tempting, but personally, I feel that drafting him with the 3rd pick in the draft is a bit of a reach. I'd rather go big and draft Brandan Wright, who I prefer over Al Horford. Then, with the 21st pick, I'd use it on point guard Acie Law if available, but I doubt he's going to slip so far. With that being said, I'd probably use the pick on 6-5 freshman point guard Javaris Crittenton from Georgia Tech, whom I feel will become a great player for us in the future (my most realistic choice). If he's not available, I'd use the pick on freshman teammate, Thaddeus Young, who was once considered to be one of the top freshman in the nation. He's been a bit of a dissapointment, but the kid is still extremely young, and has star potential. With the 48th overall pick, I'd use it on power forward Stephane Lasme from UMass. The guy is a shotblocking moster, but the downfall is probably his potential. He's already 24-25 years old, so he'd be a pretty "old" rookie. But irregardless of his age, I fully believe he'll be a decent gem in the second round. If not Lasme, maybe we take headcase Sean Williams, and hope to somehow tame him? Or maybe give Gator's point guard Tauren Green a look Free Agency/Trade Scenarios I don't really see any big trades or signings for the Sixers this offseason. Maybe some signings for depth, but nothing huge. I'm hoping we can somehow pick up a veteran with leadership to lead this young team, because Andre Miller will be traded, and Joe Smith is a free agent. I really wouldn't mind resigning Joe Smith, but the guy will probably demand more money than he's actually worth, given Billy King's history of extending players for more than their worth, I think I'll pass. Henderson would be good for leadership and experience purposes if we do resign him, for cheap. I don't really see any huge changes in the horizon, most of the changes we'll see on this roster will take place in the draft. I'd also pass on Ron Artest. I know it's a low-risk high-reward type of thing, but he's not the type of player I'd want on a team filled with a bunch of youngsters. He'll set a bad example, and is just not worth the risk for a team looking to rebuild. If we were competing for a championship, then I'd gladly take him, but competing for a championship is a whole different story. Ideal Roster For Next Season pg: Crittenton, Williams, Ollie sg: Iguodala, Green, Korver sf: Carney, Jones pf: Wright, Randolph, Lasme c: Dalembert, Hunter
<div class="quote_poster">Brian Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Trade for Kobe...</div> If only..... I doubt the 76ers have the pieces to get Kobe though, maybe Iguodala, Dalembert, and some future firsts. Hardly enough for Kobe, but a start.
<div class="quote_poster">Brian Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I was hoping for a Kobe and Iguodala duo. lol. MJ and Pippen....</div> No way to get Kobe without giving up Iguodala imo.
<div class="quote_poster">Blur Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">No way to get Kobe without giving up Iguodala imo.</div> That is the first thing the Laker would ask for is Iggy. Kobe to anywhere but the Bulls and Pistons is unrealistic, unless the teams wanna give up key franchise players, like Iggy, which I wouldn't do.
<div class="quote_poster">Smitty Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It'd be a reach, but we might be able to get away with Miller/picks/filler Once again, it's a reach.</div> Thats more than a reach D. Kobe ain't going to turn this team around. The 76ers would be way better off working with what they have.
The only thing this team needs is more experience, and a scoring post player. The young guys they have are going to be very solid at the least, so all we need to do is keep drafting players at positions that we need. This draft will be considered a complete waste IMO if we dont move up and get a solid big man. Spencer Hawes is just not good enough to make a difference on this team right now. We need Wright, Horford, Brewer, or somehow oden/Durrant. Anything besides them leaves the team exactly where they are now, a crappy lottery team fighting to make the playoffs.
Lakers would be stupid to trade Kobe at this point, don't get your hopes up at this point (or at least until he changes his mind again). Our best bet would be to pick the best available player at 12, unless we move up. It's going to be limited in free agency again, and also in the trade process unless we deal Korver, Dalembert, or Willie; which is very possible.

Sure theres a lot of the 'he has the potential be great' type players scouted, but theres some certain players out there you know will be stars. Lebron is an example, and Oden and Durant will be examples too.
I think Durant could be somewhat of a bust. I think he might end up being like a rashard lewis type player.
