Orlando General Manager Otis Smith announced Thursday that coach Brian Hill will not return.

Said Van Gundy: "It's a good job and not much of a lifestyle adjustment for my family."

Van Gundy said he had not been contacted by the Magic. Smith declined to discuss candidates Thursday, although University of Florida coach Billy Donovan was immediately the subject of speculation.</div>

I think that's a great hiring for the Magic. He coached Shaq for a couple seasons, so you figure he'll know how important it is to get the ball into Dwight.

Van Gudy should be good for the Magic. Incorperate Dwight more. This year I saw not to many Magic games, but against the Raptors, they didn't go to Howard to much, He can be so domiante. I remeber when Curry came out of High School, he was supposed to be the most dominate in the post, I think it can be Dwight, because he's way more athletic, a better rebounder and overall better, IMO.

dude this would be SO good for dwight howard. van gundy has coached hall of fame centers like ewing and shaq, and some others like yao. his strategy for the game of b-ball is inside out. he HEAVILY incorporates his strategy with the center, and everything would run through dwight. he would improve offensively, and maybe van gundy could even bring in patrick ewing to help out dwight howard to learn from one of the best centers.

Is he a slow coach like his brother, or can his teams run? I've never really watched any Stan coached teams. The Magic need to get rid of Jameer as the PG if they're gonna continue playing half court mechanical ball.

Exactly. SVG coached Shaq very well, and he might be the next step in making Dwight the next big center of the NBA. I think SVG is will be a great replacement as the coach of the Magic.

Like I said, Rick Carlisle or Stan Van Gundy.

    Do it Otis.

His teams don't run or push the ball much. He emphasizes defense just like Jeff. But Stan is more lenient (ok, a LOT more lenient) on the offensive end, allowing players the room to create and make plays, instead of predictable sets. In fact, I'd say Carlisle is a lot more like Jeff than Stan is.

Van Gundy coming to Orlando would be great for our team, that'd make me a happy fan. It's great how SVG is putting it out there too, saying he'd like to coach the Magic. Although, I haven't heard anything about the Magic showing interest in Van Gundy. Otis Smith is keeping the Coach search very private though, so I can only hope that we've at least talked to Stan Van Gundy.
