I'd use Randolph as a last resort option. If it's certain we can't land JO, Kidd or Gasol (I give up on Garnett) then we need to pursue him. An offensive threat would help this team a lot.
I've never been a fan of Zach Randolph to be completely honest with you. I've heard he has a horrible attitude, slacks off, has a horrible work ethic, doesn't play defense, and ever since winning Most Improved Player, hasn't played with any heart. But looking back at this season, I don't think I've heard anything negative said about Randolph, plus, looking at his numbers, he's a pretty decent player. With that being said, I wouldn't mind him here as a Laker if don't land someone like Kevin Garnett or Jermaine O'Neal
Zach Randolph is not the answer for the Lakers problems. But this, according to newspaper reports over the years, is what you also get with Randolph: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">•1995. Thirty days in juvenile detention for shoplifting. •High school years: Thirty days of house arrest for battery. •Thirty days in juvenile detention for receiving stolen property, a gun. •2002. Underage drinking arrest in Marion, Ind., his hometown. •2003. Team suspension by the Trail Blazers for sucker-punching teammate Ruben Patterson in practice and breaking his eye socket. •2003. Arrested in Portland for driving under the influence of intoxicants and marijuana. •2004. Accused by police of lying in an investigation of his brother shooting three men in an Indiana nightclub. •2006. Suspended by the Trail Blazers for making obscene gestures to fans after a game in Indiana. •2006. Sued by a Portland woman for sexual assault, though prosecutors didn't file criminal charges. •2007. Left a strip club without paying the bill while he was on bereavement leave from the team and missed three games after the death of his girlfriend's cousin. •2007. Earlier this month, police were called to the parking lot of a strip club where Randolph and teammate Darius Miles were part of a gathering and a gunshot was fired.</div> Source: Chicago Tribune
Zach Randolph has a lot of issues maybe he is not the answer. We can't afford a player who has many problems. Ron Artest and Randolph will get along great if they ever go to the Lakers.
So just because Randolph has some issues, you don't want him. I would love him on the Raptors if he just cleaned up a bit. He is a soild PF who can help the Lakers. I think pursuing him would be smart on their part, becuase right now, they have a weak front line.
He wouldn't really help the Lakers if other people are on the table. He's a moron, L.A. wouldn't help him with his character issues. If he's having strip club problems in Portland...I don't want to imagine those problems out here. Also, his basketball IQ isn't the greatest...the triangle would be way too complicated for him.
He isn't a stupid player. He can understand it. I think he would be a step up for the lakers front line. Phil just needs to set him straight. Why is everyone giving up on him. He has problems, help him out, he's a good player. Don't think cause he has problems he is stupid or can't do something He just needs guidence, and Phil can help him. he's the Zen master.
<div class="quote_poster">Brian Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">The Zen master sure did a great job guiding Smush Parker, didn't he?</div> Randolph is better then smuch already. Smush just couldn't learn. Randolph can, he is already a good PF who can contribute.
I know Randolph is better. Smush doesn't belong in the NBA. But the Zen master sure didn't do anything about Smush's attitude, did he?
I still think LA needs a bad player. It would give them some type of tough edge. Like a Rodman, i wouldn't mind getting Artest or Randolph.
Smush's attitude, didn't change becuase he just ddin't want it to. If Randoplh gets a guy like Kobe and Zen to sit with him and say listen, we need you. He will. Smush's own incompatence lead to him eating crap. He could of done better, but hey. No harm No foul.
I don't think that anyone said Randolph would solve the Laker's problems. However, with all the off-court stuff that is going on, he's still a 24 and 10 guy. Speaking as a Portland fan, I can say that honestly, he's a guy I wouldn't want on my team ruining my chemistry. Then again, I say the same things about SJax and Rasheed. I do believe that the triangle is within Randolphs capability, especially because he'll have quite a few mismatches with some of the less physical power forwards. But, the way I look at it, Odom and Kwame right now don't have exactly that much value on the market, especially due to injuries. So, if you guys acquire Randolph, and maybe Magloire, you still have Bynum and you can ship him out for a decent starting point guard.
