<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Brandon Rush, who led Kansas in scoring last year, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will play his junior season at the school. A two-time all-conference selection, the 6-foot-6 Rush averaged a team-high 13.8 points for the Big 12 champions. Sophomore Julian Wright, another starter, has committed to the draft. But with Rush returning, Kansas will have all but one of the 14 players who went 33-5 and captured the Jayhawks' third straight conference title. Rush was projected to be a second round pick by RealGM.com. </div> http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/462...from_nba_draft/
Why are these guys pulling out already? They haven't even started real workouts yet, so he must sure like school. Rush is the type of guy that moves up the draft boards with ease because he's 6'7", the ideal swingman for the NBA. I thought Rush would move up into the top 15, but I guess not now.....
Smart. He's right on the bubble, there are a lot of top swingmen in the draft and a knee injury will restrict his workouts. He' can go back for his junior season, continue to develop his game and be a surefire first rounder next year.

This year you have guys like Derrick Byars, Arron Afflalo, Jared Dudley, Dominic McGuire, Demetris Nichols, Marcus Williams, Alando Tucker, Marco Belinelli, Rudy Fernandez, Daequan Cook, Morris Almond, and Rodney Stuckey on the first round bubble. It probably goes without saying, but that's a hell of a lot of SG's and SF's to be on the first round bubble. Next season has more great point guards and big men than wings on the table, so Rush could probably sneak into lottery range. He also really needs some more time in college to fix his jumper. It's not attrocious like Shawn Marion's or Ronnie Brewer's, but it's still akward and leads to a lot of inconsistent performances on Rush's behalf.
wow, im impressed, usually people are greedy enough to jump into the nba out of high school... not this guy, this guy's got his head on straight i tell u what. yessiree bob, you can count on him any day of the week.
Apparently the reason he pulled out was because he has an injury (torn ACL according to JaRon Rush though not officially confirmed): <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LAWRENCE - Kansas' Brandon Rush has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and his availability for next season is in doubt, according to one of his older brothers. "He tore his ACL," JaRon Rush said Saturday. "Brandon said he'll be out four to six months." Pending the reduction in swelling of the knee that he injured during a pickup game on Wednesday, Brandon will undergo surgery later this week in Lawrence, JaRon Rush said. But KU coach Bill Self declined to confirm the extent the injury or that surgery will be required. A specialist in Denver will look at test results this week and give a second opinion. "He'll be evaluated in detail (this) week," Self said. "Anything more than that is speculation. It's in the kid's best interest to have it evaluated. We'll find out how severe when it's evaluated fully."</div> Full Article- The Wichita Eagle

Those kind of knee injuries take away from their speed and athleticism, the thing that made him so highly touted....

Amare had micro-fracture surgery. Rush tore his ACL. Players lose a lot on their vertical leap, lateral movement, quickness, speed, and stability. It's not as major as it once was, but it's still a major injury.
