I was thinking since we are gonna have a new coach and hopefully a new lineup for next season. What areas are the biggest question marks and what do we need to improve the most for next season. 1. Run more. We dont need to run like the suns but we need to have incorporate more sets that we can use to take advantage of the quickness this team has. We need to get into our offense earlier than 10 seconds like we did this season. 2. Three pointers. In order to play an effective inside out game we need to increase our three point presense. Redick isnt the only player that we had to shoot 3's but either way we have to incorporate more plays for 3 pointer shooters. That way it helps spread defenses. 3. Three point defense. We were getting lit up for downtown this season by the other team. Every team in the league torched us in that department. We have to be able to cover the shooters better than we did. 4. FREE THROWS. I wonder how many more games we could have won if we had just made like 5 more free throws a night. Dwight, Darko, and Ariza have to improve in this area cuz they are constantly at the line and they need to make defenses pay for fouling them. Dwight has to be at least a 75% shooter in order for defenses to respect him.
On top of what you said is..... 1. Passing. We need to desperately get more ball movement. We were 2nd to last in assists last season. 2. Decision Making. We also finished 2nd to last in most turnovers committed and 2nd to last in assist to turnover ratio.
Give Dwight more touches. The more he gets, the more comfortable he will get in the post and eventually become an unstoppable monster in the paint like a Duncan or Garnett. That is the one thing I would want if I were a Magic fan.
As well as what you guys said: Dwight's development is key to me. I think we should get someone to help him on his post game, so he eventually has a soft touch(rather than a rim rocker) around the hoop. To expand on Gators picks, our PG's need improvement. Our offense was STALE when Nelson and/or Arroyo were in. Not surprising, was the fact that statistically we did BETTER when they were off the court. What's mind boggling is the fact that our offense looked better on paper when Dooling was in, than those 2 goons. However, I'll give them credit where it is due, as Nelson and Arroyo shot 39% and 60% respectively in the crunch. However, Nelson, shouldn't be taking our big shots. Majorly because he is simply a bad decision maker. Even Hedo will give the ball to Dwight when he sees he is open for a big shot.
More athletic wing players I think. If we can get someone like Rashard Lewis or even VC, I think that's an improvement. Turkoglu and Hill don't expand the defense because they don't attack the basket. We need guys like Ariza but also with better shooting touch. Do you guys understand what I'm saying?

I understand what you are saying that we need a Bruce Bowen/Raja Bell type player who can play defense and knock down the open 3 to spread the floor, but VC and Shard doesn't do that, so I'm not too sure why you said those 2.

They are both decent defenders. No worse than Turkoglu.
Turkoglu's defense really isn't that bad. It's around average. He gets a bad rap on his defense, but he really wasn't that huge of a liability because of his length. I think Turkoglu's D is better than VC's, just because Turkoglu goes 100% all the time, while VC takes plays off on defense.
IMO our biggest need is a big with a good mid range jumper who isn't afraid to take an open shot, somone like Joe Smith would be perfect.

Darko has some great range. He can even knock down threes.

I think we need someone like Joe Smith or Antonio McDyess where you just know when the ball leaves their hands it is going to be good
Antonio McDyess? I would kill Otis if we got him. He's way too old for this team. He are going in a younger direction.

Right now we need another one and he isn't really a cancer and can really help Dwight's progression.
I didn't say he was a cancer. I just disagree with the decision to get an older player right now. We have 3 2nd round picks. Let's get a big man with at least one of them and try to develop them to be solid role guys.

If we could get 2 veteran bigs such as Battie and McDyess coming off the bench it would do wonders for Dwight/Darko's improvement, IMO. I know you never said he was a cancer, I was just using that on another reason why we should get him. It's not like he will be a bad teammate. I don't think we will get him and I'm not even sure if he's a FA.
I haven't heard of McDyess being a FA. I'm sure Detroit will resign him though. I like Battie and even Outlaw is there for motivation. As far as playing time, now that's different. Brian Hill didn't even give Augustine a look. McDyess would be solid but I just think if we have him for what maybe a year then next year we still have to get someone else. Might as well stick to the young guys and the vets that we already have.
Bo will likely retire, so right now our backup PF is Pat Garrity and James Augustine. The Augustine point is exactly my point, why trust someone in the 2nd round to be able to give us good minutes off the bench? Augustine couldn't do it last year and likely won't be with the team either.

I'm sorry I'll admit Jameer was a let-down thios year but even as such he was the best PG on this team.
Mcdyess is a Free agent but I wasn't saying we should get him just someone (a big) who can shoot like him BUT..............if we could by some miricle get him he would be a perfect fit for this team remember this guy was an allstar before injury's and he has been perfecly healthy in Detroit. He IMO is exactly what this team needs with that said though, there's no way in Hell were going to get him, he wants a ring and honestly we aren't there just yet.

Diener didn't get any PT and when he did it was in blowouts with our bench players. Diener seemed to run the offense better in his limited time, not to mention when he does jack up a shot he has better chance at making it then Jameer. I wouldn't go as far saying I'd rather have Diener then Jameer, but I think it would be much closer than most people would think.
